I recently went to an in service training on vestibular rehab. The lady who did it talked at length about motion sickness and sickness in different planes particularly following brain surgery/injury (not that thats what you have but it still applies to anyone with motion sickness!). There are vestibular exercises you can do to help, can’t remember them off the top of my head but i’ll see if I can look up the presentation if you think that would help? Do you just get motion sick when you turn your head? Or at other times, like when you go up and down in lifts, or bend over etc?

A really easy one is to lie on your side, bend your elbow (the one on top) to 90 degrees and lock it into your side so that your hand is pointing out in front of you. Keeping your elbow locked into your side, lift your hand up towards the ceiling (so your arm rotates). You can add resistance to this in the form of a free weight or bottle of water. I like this one because its hard to cheat if you keep your elbow locked into your side.
The theraband one mentioned above where you pull the theraband is good for working the internal rotators. Also gentle abduction exercises (where you take your arm out to the side away from your body) will work your supraspinatus (one of your rotator cuff muscles- the most commonly injured one).

Mines not fussed either. He loves that he can tell his friends that his girlfriend pole dances, but at home he doesn’t bat an eyelid. Just like others are saying, he was all excited until he realised it wasn’t all about me being sexy for him. However he does respect and support my love of it, and he is supporting my desire to eventually become an instructor so i’m lucky in that respect. However he did get stressed the other day because he went to a strip club and found himself analysing the pole dancers performances….. so I’ve ruined that fantasy for him! hahaha!

I’m wary of doing the armpit type hold as the brachial plexus can be vulnerable in this area, but thats just me being a scaredy cat as I’ve had arm nervy problems in the past. Not really sure about arterial routes though, is there a particular reason why you are more worried about arteries? There are loads of people that do these moves with no problem, and there are loads of people that do much more simple moves that end up injuring themselves, I guess you jsut have to weigh up whether you want to take the risk.

if you look at the video of Felix’s winning routine from the world championships (its somewhere on youtube) this year she falls into the CAR from a pike (not an inverted pike which is what I think you were describing?). Although I have no idea how she doesn’t bang the back of her head on the pole when she does it!

Yes you did spell adductors right lol. Sitting on the floor facing the wall, go into a straddle with both feet on the wall, then you can push yourself forwards towards the wall to get a stretch. If you keep your back really straight this one can also stretch your hamstrings to a degree.
Also laying on your back with your bum right up againt the wall, split your legs and gravity will give you a stretch. If you wanted to increase the intensity you can put a sock filled with sand on either foot to put a small weight through it. Its a bit kinder to your knees than doing a regular straddle standing up.

Sorry to hear you have been going through so much with your feet sissy, must have been pretty bad to get stress fractures!
I’ve just come off a stint working rehab in our orthoaedic ward and saw a few surgeries to feet and arches, let me tell you they are NOT to be taken lightly, its quite major surgery. I also work with loads of children with flat feet, and we usually get pretty good results with exercises and/ or orthotics (although theirs will be more flexible usually as they are still growing). I’ve just recently made a patient info leaflet on pes planus with all the exercises in it if you want I can send it to you?

haha humptydumpty! I’ve just ordered some mighty grip, if it doesn’t help oh well. I had a look at the gloves, they look pretty good, do you have the ones with grip or without grip?

p.s. on a totally different note did anyone see that news article on political correctness gone mad? It was on a school that is teaching their kids that in the end of humpty dumpty instead of humpty not being able to be put back together again, all the kings horses and all the kings men ‘made humpty happy again’ because they didn’t want to upset the children. How ridiculous! maybe i’m just cynical https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif
