Can we do some lyrical or jazz dance?

Okay I posted a blog with a picture of me on Day 1 with the pole and a picture of me now (day 80)! I hope it’s not in my head but I feel like there is such a different in definition!

I recommend getting a pole and doing online lessons AS WELL as going to a studio! The at home time definitely helps you improve faster and the online lessons let you try new moves. However, the studio atmosphere is important to help you polish those moves and to make sure you’re doing things safely. I started out with the online lessons and they just recently opened a studio in my area so now I’m doing that as well. Veena’s lessons are amazing so you should definitely give them a try!

I’ll give it a go too I guess.
My pet peeves:
When people give up on a move before even trying it! If you’re not ready that’s fine but just say "I don’t think I’m ready to do that" not "Oh my gosh I CAN’T do that!" I get being nervous! There are moves that I’m afraid of still (straight edge, extended butterfly, etc.) but I still try them no matter how nervous I am. You just have to be aware of what you’re doing!
Women who get catty. We all learn at different paces. Some people have had prior dance/exercise training so they’re gonna be able to do certain moves quicker than those of us who haven’t. Don’t put them down for that!
Pet peeves about myself:
I have a bad habit of pulling myself up in an invert with the sole of my outside foot. I also sometimes go into a basic invert instead of going straight into any other invert.
I also have a bad habit of wiping my hands. Lately it’s been really hot so I’m sweating more but even when my hands are fine I have this fear that they’re not. So I wipe them all the time.
I pick wedgies…a lot…
Sometimes I won’t work through the discomfort of a move (i.e. the superman hold) and so it never gets better.
Yay for getting stuff off of our chests!

I appreciate everyone’s advice! I’ve decided not to pierce it! It just isn’t worth the risk and I don’t want to minimize my pole work anymore than I already have to (thank you pulled hamstring that won’t heal for another 4 weeks or so) so the piercing is out for now! Thanks everyone!

So how many people are going to do the song thriller?!
I know for a fact that my roommate is doing thriller. I’m trying to decide between Billie Jean and Smooth Criminal. I’m so stoked!

Does anyone know when the July challenge will be posted?

It’s not so much a strain in the arm as it is in the wrist. I feel like my wrist is being twisted or something. Maybe I’m just making the move more complicated than it really is?

I think it would be a cool challenge to get people to dance to a song that they wouldn’t typically dance to. Like classical music or a broadway song (excluding chicago and cabaret because those are too easy) or an old song or something along those lines. Not the typical sexy bump and grind music that we all enjoy dancing to so much! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

oh my gosh I’m going through the same thing. I even have a few on my arms. If people didn’t know about the pole…they would probably be organizing an intervention! My legs look awful!

I went to the store today and they had a 3 oz bottle of household lubricant but they also had a spray bottle of it as well as a pen. Seeing as I’m retarded when it comes to hardware stuff I thought it would a good idea to ask what you use?
