I think trying out a new studio/teacher can be beneficial at times.  I go to a large studio and there are times when I feel stuck too.( I have been there for the last 3 months or so :().  I have started working on things like flow and strength.  I also recently started down the competitive route.

I think it is frustrating when you are trying to get the moves to be perfect and they are already moving on to the next thing and I wasn't ready.

Different forms of dance can be helpful too.  Hopefully we can both get unstuck!!

Unfortunately I didn't record.  I will be recording in the near future and I'll let you know when I do so that suggestions are easier

I suffer from major depression and self esteem issues.  I find that pole dancing makes me feel better about my body and gets me through my depression better than anything else.  I am so much better off and so greatful to my pole buddies for helping me get through my rough patches. Maybe it is just getting more exercise, but I find it is one of the few that I can consistantly stick with.  I also work in a field with mostly men and it is nice to be a woman and spend quality time with my pole ladies 😉

I'm working toward this too.   I find the snaking up is building the strength, but maybe try the work down the pole as well.  I find this slightly easier ( you get to go down instead of up :))  and it helps with strength (still with the push up and out), but it looks pretty and can be done as a move to get you there.  If you need to see it let me know and I'll upload a vid.  Mine aren't the prettiest, but you can get the idea if you don't have it.

I am poling  3 days a week for 2-3 hours at a time.  No way I am pregnant.  Thanks for the advice.  I am hoping the feeling passes.  If not I might be going for a private to see if I can get it together.

    Hi,

Just a quick note.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE the mika wear shorts.  I am not sure the name, but they tie on the sides allowing you to adjust the amount of coverage you want.  They are great for pole because if you need more thigh for certain holds you can tie them up and then put them back down for modesty ( If you are like me and have large hips and thighs, this is a HUGE bonus).  They fit me great and I am not a stick figure.  I bought a medium.  I am not sure about the tops though 🙁

Mini- I am so sorry to hear that you didn't make it to finals.  I was rooting for you.  I too competed and ddn't win. I competed at Annapolis  It was my first attempt though.  I think working with someone on the choreography is a great idae.  I think my flow was part of my problem, plus I need a few more tricks 🙁  When you are ready to go through your routines and compete again, I would ove to work with you and have you work with me.  We'll get there eventually

@amy.  I don't believe I am but I have debated about singing during the move.  I am generally a nose breather.

    Mini,

You will do great.  Just give yourself some down time and don't push too hard.  I too am going out for Ms. xpose ( this is my fisrt year).  I am competing in prlims at Annapolis in February.  I cannot believe how close we are getting to d-day!!!!

Good luck and I know you'll shine

@sensualscimitar Thanks that is a great idea I have soem time v=before competition.

@chemgoddess  I have the move down I just appear to have a silly face.  I have about 2 months before competition so now it is getting rid of rough edges so I can feel happy with my performance and this is one of my weak points thanks for the adivce.

I have"slippy" days too where I can't grip due to sweaty legs https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_puke_r.gif.  I have found a dose of antipersperant prior to dancing put in the areas that are gripping  and right under my bum help me not slip quite so bad.  The results last about 1-2 hours so if you are dancing longer, you may need to reapply.  Good luck.
