thanks !! i’ve never tried the grip like that, but maybe i should! i have collarbone hurty issues that i cant seem to shake. i swear it’s bc of the long torso, short leg syndrome so i can’t reach my legs around the pole unless i "invert" more.

that looks so gooood!! pls share the secrets!

how do you incorporate this into your pole workouts? i got a copy of p90x finally and am hesitant to start bc i dont want it to interfere with my pole training!

this is so depressing!! she is so long and limber everywhere! i wish i had long legs and arms!
i thought felix was unbelievable flexible, but dang this brings the word to new levels!

for the split grip aysha are you supposed to keep the upper elbow bent or straight? i can only get into the split grip position from a cartwheel mount right now. i can get the jackknife, but aysha and straight edge i have no idea how to get into!

MemberFebruary 11, 2010 at 1:40 am in reply to: Woman Sues Crunch Fitness For Pole Dancing InjuryI just took a class at crunch last week and girls were definately trying things they weren’t ready for. With 25 girls and 8 poles it’s impossible for the instructor to keep an eye on everyone. It was more a free for all. She showed the trick and you would try it on the pole. And of course there were some beginners who wanted to try everything. The teacher did not stress not trying certain things if you were new, etc. First time goers saw twisted grip mount an were trying it!!!
As far as teacher quals, that particular instructor has been a stripper for 7 yrs but didn’t really seem caring about anyone getting hurt! My instrucor now started her own studio but used to teach at crunch. I guess the teachers do know how to pole, but the liability falls on crunch, not them, so they might not really care what’s going on!

i just had a total epiphany with this move last night. IT MATTERS WHICH WAY YOU SPIN!!! i’m taking my pole to the left side, so i should be starting with the left arm up for the climb. i’ve been doing it the opposite way with only 10% success rate…now i know why DUH! momentum helps you get into it if you spin the right way =b.

thanks stelly! "youda youda best." i never even thought about turning the hips to face the pole, but duh!! will have to try that later, and hopefully i can stay there for more than .5 seconds!
i’ll try being more aggressive with that leg swing for spinning scorp and see where that gets me.

MemberJanuary 25, 2010 at 7:13 am in reply to: Holy moly, I finally got the Brass Monkey!!yayyy congrats! do you have your side exposed when doing it? it’s so much easier to let go if you don’t have a shirt there! other than that, i find that arching my back and getting some armpit skin action on the pole helps.

i had the same problem and every time my legs fell my mid/lower back closest to the pole really hurt. i found that i was over gripping, so i was still trying to hang on when my lower body was trying to come down. i found that loosening the grip once you’re up there and straightening the arms helped a lot to tip the butt over! then you can go into the cruxifix before you fall back down !
