I too felt like you when I first started poling. When I first started poling I couldn’t pole climb/ basic stuff everyone else in class had already. My profile pic is my greatest accomplishment I achieved in November. So it IS possible to get there with regular practice. Sadly I’ve had some bad things happen in the last 2 months that have drained my enthusiasm to pole at home and go to class. Also I know I will be frustrated when I do pole again since I’ve probably lost strength so I’ll be feeling like I’m starting over 🙁

I’ve been thinking about getting a pole warmer that I’ve seen advertised through this site. Maybe one of those would help your situation as well?…

I think that is a really great idea. I’d love to see something like this too. Maybe Veena can come up with some cardio pole lessons for us on this site.

I run on my treadmill before I pole. I know how many calories I burn running so pole is an extra unknown calorie burn for me.

Pole is sold.

My studio classes are taught on spinning poles. I would like to have some static classes and I’ve mentioned this to my instructors. I have a static/spin pole too at home and its mostly on static to learn moves. Do what feels best to you. No right or wrong choice. They’re both fun 🙂

Hi,
i've been poling since may and did a basic invert recently on my home pole and in class. i'm not an expert on the subject but holy crap you should be given some time to advance when you feel confident with the previous move. in other words work next on extending into a full invert with hands on pole above your head and then try hands free when you trust and master the full invert with hands on pole. does your instructor know your experience level? I wouldn't feel shy about telling her you are not ready or comfortable with something. also you can try inverted stuff low to ground first until youre confident.

I have a 50mm platinum stages multi piece superpole that I was looking to sell. It has spin and static modes. I sent you a pm. Let me know if you’re interested.

I’ve had my belly button pierced 3 times. I had my 1st one in for like 4-5 years with no problem and all of a sudden it got infected. I took an antibiotic, cleaned it with soap/water but it ended up having to be taken out. The 2nd one was done very shallow by another piercer, it got red and eventually rejected. The 3rd was done by yet another piercer. It was not easy for her due to scar tissue that developed. It too rejected 8 months later. I’ve tried titanium and surgical steel. My cartilage piercings in my ears are surgical steel and I have no problems with them. I’d love to have a navel piercing again if I could keep it from rejecting. Interesting about not turning the piercing cause they all had me turn it with cleaning, they did tell me never to use bacitracin ointment, and I used a sea salt spray to it while the piercing was “angry” each time.

I know exactly what you mean about how what you see affects your mindset. I have been an er RN for 14 years and have seen my share of “unpleasantries” of all kinds which will play on your brain. Have you read the 50 shades series for some good distraction from your thoughts? If Christian Grey can’t get you more in a sexy mood nothing will lol;) Maybe try reading some of it or re-read a favorite chapter before you pole.good luck!

I just added the pic. It’s in my profile pictures.

I just got a crash mat from yoga accessories.com. I arrived today and I ordered it 1week ago. I had a good painless experience with them. The mat diameter is 5 ft which provides good coverage. I am not inverting yet so I haven’t tried it. It looks well made. Btw free shipping too! Ill post a pic of it on my wall to see it.

I don’t think it has anything to do with you or your teaching. I would love to attend more pole classes than I do. I live an hour away from my studio and I work 12 hour nights so its hard to get to a lot of them. Also my instructor also talks about how classes are less full in summer at my studio. I remember the same thing occurred when I used to go to Zumba classes also.

MemberJune 25, 2013 at 5:45 pm in reply to: Re: Pole options for suspended/’drop’ ceilings…?I don’t have an xpole but I do have a ps superpole and had the same issue with the drop ceiling in my basement. I used to remove a tile and put the pole against the sub floor. It was ok but it needed to be tightened after use cause it would loosen…never to the point that it came off the ceiling but rather it would twist some in the stationary mode. My solution was to have a contractor make a small solid square area (i dont know what he used to make it) in the ceiling to put the top of the pole on. Ps sells pieces to their poles so you can make them shorter which is necessary with my drop ceiling. I don’t know if xpole does that but doesn’t hurt to check. You may just be able to put a sturdy piece of lumber against the sub floor and attach it to two joists and solve the problem too. Good luck!
