Veena's lessons are great if you don't have them yet, definitely sign up for them. Like the others said they are easy to follow…just make sure not to skip around and follow the lessons in order as you build strength as you learn and you'll find that most moves build off of each other, which is another reason why it's important to do the lessons in order. HTH! Happy poling!

Mine is a little bent too has been for awhile but my pole still works fine. I just try not to take my pole down that often…I plan on replacing that piece eventually though.

I’ve had similar procedure on my cervix…4-6 weeks of no weight lifting or core work. HTH!

I have a 50 mm chrome & it was good when I was a beginner but once I got into intermediate & advanced holds & inverts, I found a 45 mm was alot easier to grip & execute SG & TG moves. My next pole will definitely be a 45 mm titanium gold.

It’s super cool that they offer pole training that is rare in clubs nowadays. Also about the stretch marks, girl the lights will be dim & I’ve seen wonders that exotic dancers can do with make up & stuff. You’ll learn all the cosmetic & clothing tricks of the trade quickly. It’s all smoke & mirrors 😉
I like the second outfit 🙂

@j Harris are there no intermediate level classes at your studio? You shouldn’t jump from beginner to advanced. But sounds like you could be ready for intermediate level. It should go something like beginners, interm, then advanced or level 1&2(beg), level 3&4(interm), level 4+(advanced)

Progressing at home alone is tough & it sucks to be beyond your pole studio as well. But I know some things that have helped me & others is pole convention workshops or just attending monthly workshops in there towns. I’ve found that once I got to certain level, I learned alot from workshops. With workshops, you learn several things in a couple hours of time, whereas with pole classes, you learn a few things over several weeks of time.
Also traveling to different studios where they offer pole camps or pole intensive workshops 1-2x a year, I know alot of people find this challenging & beneficial also.
Combos & transitions are my rough spot as well but I’m working on it! I’d recommend SV routines/combos section. Learn all of them & then spend a practice a week, stringing different ones together. And freestyle more & tape it. Also, try listening to a song that really moves you & write down moves & combos that you feel or envision, as you listen to the song, then try executing the moves.
Jamilla Deville has a routines DVD that is pretty good.
Also, check out Josiah Badasses tutorials that he posts on his Facebook page. He posts a new interm to advanced combo every week, most of which are unique to his signature style & moves. HTH!

I just recently got this move & it does hurt like the dickens but not to the extreme you are describing in the rib region. I definitely discovered that how you go into it makes it hurt less & eventually with time, it does get easier to get into & hurts less to sustain. How are you going into it? Can you post a vid of your attempts that will allow us here to help you better problem shoot.

MemberJuly 10, 2013 at 12:58 pm in reply to: chrome issues. .luv or leave powder..how to conquer chrome on stageI have a chrome pole & have had it for 3 years. I have a love/hate relationship with it. Hate because I still have slippy issues sometimes when I use it, which can prove problematic when working on inverts & split grip & twisted grip moves. Love because its great for spins & I think there is some real value in learning how to pole on the hardest finish out there because I think if you can pole on chrome or stainless steel, anything else you pole on will be easy as pie. Your issues may just be the pole diameter, your grip might not be strong enough yet, your arms may not be strong enough yet. I wouldn’t completely give up on your chrome pole yet…keep trying different things. Maybe a grip aid might help?
I plan on getting a titanium gold pole next year but I will continue to also learn moves on my chrome too, even after I get my TG. I eventually want to get a PC pole & silicone pole sleeve as well, I just like the idea of being able to perform on as many pole finishes as I can.
