If you just want to practice on a studios pole, you can do that during a studios “open pole” time. Usually it’s approx. $5-10 to go to an open pole session. There is usually no pole instructor present, it is exactly that open pole practice.

Mine has love/hate feelings about poling. When it comes to me poling, he’s supportive–spots me when I ask, helps me set up my equipment for skype/google jams, helps me warm up my pole, helps me stretch & he loves how pole has changed me & made me happy, brags to other people about my poling & that I’m going to get my certification later this year, but he doesn’t see it like he used to & every now & then he still gets envious of my poling & friendships in the pole community when I am having a particularly ambitious poling obsessive week/month that keep me from spending time with him.

He does not like going to pole showcases or competitions(or watching them on youtube), he can’t sit there & enjoy it. He’ll sit there breaking down or critiquing the performers every move, it just takes a lot to impress him now…if its a super amazing combo, hell be wowed but this doesn’t happen too often. He’s not mean with his comments but it is distracting & drives me nuts, so I no longer take him to those types of events lol

Six Flags magic mountain 1994. We were both working there. We both worked in rides but they split them up by areas like area a, b, c. It was rare to get transfer out of your area to work another area. Only time it usually happened was if an area was short staffed. Anyways, I worked in area a my husband in c. I was working my ride & it was a few mins before my break. I stand up at the dispatch podium to get a look at how far the line is going…if it is bleeding out into the main walkway, I need to make an announcement on the loud speaker to have them move forward & then call someone to fix the stanchions in the line to extend the line. So! While I’m looking over the crowd, I see this guy in front talking to guests, who I’d never seen in my area before he looks cute but I’m not sure from that distance. Just then, my relief comes to the podium & tells me to go on my break & to fix the line stanchions on my way out. I head towards the front towards “the guy” his back is to me at first then he turns around and he smiles…I melted. GORGEOUS eyes, beautiful teeth & smile wow! He said Hi and the first thought in my head? I’m going to marry this man. Yep, this from a girl who before thought love at first sight was a myth/joke. It wasn’t, it was real! We chatted for a couple mins, then I shyly left for my break. Coincidently I started to runinto him alot more after that & after a cpl weeks of bumping into each other, we went on our first date. 3 months into our dating, he moved in with me. It wasn’t until after we were dating several months that he admitted that he had been eyeing me for awhile & worked his way into being transferred to my area as much as he could. Sly devil.

My husband and I were just talking about this lol My hubby is an ass man so he loves the little booty shorts & grabs my butt or grabs me for a passionate kiss when I am prancing around in my pole shorts–which is pretty much all the time lol But as far as being desensitized by my pole work, yep that’s my husband. He will be intrigued & watch when I am working on a new trick(especially ones I am struggling with) or working on my booty popping (again, ass man lol) but for the most part, he could care less.

Truthfully though, I actually dont like him watching me too often because when he is paying attention he is too much of a drill sergeant lol he’ll be like arch your back more, why are you holding your breath? why are you making that face?, you do not have a good enough leg/knee pit lock with that move that’s why you’re falling out of it, you need to work on your stretching, so you can get into move that easier etc. When I ask for his help or advice fine but when I don’t ask for it, I just want him to sit there & not pay attention to me lol so I can actually practice in peace!

When we go to strip clubs we still find pole dancing sexy but on a different level…& we definitely give more props & pay more attention to gals who do pole work because we know all the hard work, pain, sweat & tears that goes into it!

It's normal, that happened to ALL of us here when we first started pole. It takes a few weeks to build up strength in your hands, arms and core. Just keep praticing. Give it a little time and you will start noticing a difference in your grip.

Now if your issues of slippage seem to be due to sweaty hands, then a grip aid like dry hands or mighty grip might help.

I definitely second the working on core, arm and hand strength as well as flexibility training/conditioning while you can't pole. Know though that even if you do work on these things, it will still take a week or two probably to get back into the swing of things but it will help immensely if you can keep your strength up and/or improve your strength and stamina while not able to pole.

Have a good trip! Hope you post another progress vid before you leave town 😉

I'm sorry sooooo sorry VDUB I invited everyone that was in my pole circle(you included) and was told some got the invite but others didn't. Aerial had to re- invite people on my behalf. Sorry I missed your message. Again I deeply apologize, I didn't want to leave anyone out or miss anyone and apparently I did 🙁 If you want, I am available on Skype right now if you'd like, I'd like to make it up to you. Let me know. I will keep my PM open and this thread open in case you respond.

Welcome to Studio Veena! It sounds like you are probably an intermediate poler. Since you are also attending classes at a studio, my advice would be to skim through the SV beginner lessons and review all the moves to make sure you can do them all, if you can do some of them, but not all, then work on the moves you can't do for a couple of weeks and then proceed with the Intermediate lessons.

Put your pole up! Put on some good music and get to polin' girl! Practice makes perfect and =progress on the pole!

We are having a google + pole jam tomorrow 3 pm PST/5pm  CST/6 pm EST if you want to join in, PM(private message) me with your google + username and I'll add you. Then just log into your google + at the designated time tomorrow and accept my hangout message/invite, then you'll be tapped into the group pole jam.

I definitely understand & have felt the way you do many times. Joining Skype or google + jams with SV members is a great way to get additional support & motivation.

There are also a few SV members called the Flexines who also do a stretching/pole jam chats on Tues, Thurs & Sundays. PM me for log in info if you are interested in that.
