I thought it was just me as well. Was sad that I couldn’t log onto chat today 🙁

I have the art of pole DVDs as well & they are good but I found Veena’s lessons to be 10x more detailed, easier to follow & through

If you could post a video of you attempting it, that could help us veneers access what the issue might be. For me it was fear, once I got past the fear of doing it (which took several months mind you), it became my fave move 🙂 Give it time, some moves will take longer than others to gain the strength & confidence to execute. Just keep practicing 🙂

Alright Veeners thanks for your enthusiasm & support on the mentor/mentee program…I’ll be working on this over the next few days, so hopefully we can get this program started in the next week! Stay tuned! 🙂 xxoo Cali

@studiovenna first off, I want to thank you for being so open to the idea of a mentor/mentee match up, as I think it will be really helpful and enriching to alot of gals here. Second, I want to clarify something…I hope you don't think that this idea came about because I think SV is not a great support system because it is! In fact, the love and support I have received from the SV community is the reason I stuck with pole and didn't quit a few times!
I do want to share how this idea came about though 🙂 I was thinking back to when I first started college and how lonely, confusing, frustrating and hard that first year was. Then I thought back to my first year of poling and realized I had the same emotions and feelings as I did in my first year in college. Sure, I had support from my friends and family but I was still ready to drop out of college in my sophmore year because I just felt so lost stumbling though classes day after to day–I felt like a hamster running in a hamster wheel moving through life but really going anywhere.
Then one of my favorite professors suggested that I get a mentor. Best suggestion ever because I honestly don't think I wouldn't have made it through college without my mentors extra guidance, support, advice and sympathetic listening ear.
And then the lightbulb went off of how great it would be to bring that wonderful 1 on 1 connection and (extra) support to newbie SV members…and there you have it 🙂

I heard packing your pole in a golf bag works well for transport.

@Krissykiki I would be honored & very appreciative, if you could put it together (only if webby & veena are ok with this idea of course) since you have experience w/mentoring programs & I have no clue where to start. Of course I will help you organize this in anyway need be, just point me in the right direction & ill do as you ask *bowing down*
I definitely want to be put down as a mentor 🙂

If the 30 day isn’t working for you, try just starting at the beginning lessons the pace of those lessons vs the 30 day might be a little better for you.
You can work on strength & conditioning lessons on your rest days or use as warm ups to poling.
Also finding a pole buddy who you can practice with either in person or Skype will help TONS with inspiration & motivation. I have just recently started doing pole chat on Sundays with the flexines & it has ignited my pole mojo again, I now practice 3x a week since I started doing pole chats with them. You are welcome to join us!
Hang in there!

I have saline under the muscle & since i last posted in this thread, i have now been poling 3 years with my breast implants & no tightening or deformation of the breasts has occurred 🙂

xpert good to have the option to go from static to spinning if you want

I sympathize with where you are at right now. I felt the same with my last job of 11 years! Then I got a blessing of sorts…I got laid off. Now a year later, I am still unemployed and trying to figure out what I want to do as a career now. I have a few things that I have ALWAYS wanted to do/try and now I think I am actually going to try and go for them ALL! Why not? life is too short and if you have the time, passion and patience, you can start a new career as often as you like, until you find the perfect fit for you 🙂

You walk in & there is a reception desk but there are usually pole spin mags on the reception area tables & other upcoming pole event flyers & such laying around. If your moms friend goes with her she will more than likely see or pick up the mags or flyer in the reception area & get a pretty good idea what’s up. I think it might be a good idea for her to leave her friend at the hotel if at all possible. Why won’t your mom just tell your friend what’s she’s getting for you why all the secrecy? It would make the whole process a lot easier to get through.
They have x poles with different finishes & diameters set up in a back room if you want to see & touch the finishes first hand.
The x pole packaging is big & clunky but it is just a plain brown cardboard box, so she should be ok but because of its size her friend may ask what it is still.
IDK if your mom is driving or flying back home but if she’s driving, x pole will load it into the car for her. If she’s flying, I have heard that it difficult to get on a plane(may cost extra). If she is flying, best bet might be to look into the airline she is flying on package policies & weight limits, so can figure out the cost to get it back on the plane before hand. In box me if you have any other questions.

Wanted to add that in my area there is cardio barre & bar method which are both like ballet, pilates & yoga all mixed together, which alot of pole gals that went to my studio took & it really helped them gain grace & limb awareness that transferred well when they poled too. I’ve taken one cardio barre class & loved it, would love to take more & will when I can afford it.
I’ve also heard great things about pop physique, which is on the floor cardio, light weights+ballet barre+pilates, which not only builds your strength, conditioning & stamina for pole but it also helps with your grace & form. Cardio barre & pop physique both have DVDs on the market too btw.
But the main thing that has really helped alot of gals I know is taking ballet.
At the studios around me the classes they have that help with flow & sexy are titled poleography, pole ballet, poletry & prose.

Girl, I’m right there with you! I can string a few moves together & execute them but to me it doesn’t feel or look smooth or sexy. I still have deer in headlight moments & I never really know what to do with my hands & we won’t even get into sexy facial expressions while poling ugh! My goal for 2013 is to try & work at getting better at it though, through practice, practice, practice & by attending workshops that specifically teach sexy flow/transition flow. Don’t know if it’ll really help me but I’m going to try my hardest at it!
