Unfortunately it’s par for the course. Sad but true. I hardly ever talk about my poling on my Facebook or twitter for the reasons you are dealing with. While it is not because I am ashamed of poling, I just don’t want to deal with the drama & bullshit. Alot of polers have 2 Facebook accounts, 1 where they can talk about their poling openly with others in the poling community & post vids & pics of themselves poling, where they only befriend those who pole as well. While their 2nd Facebook is more for friends & family–you know the vanilla stuff… this is what I ate today, I’m at the gym, pics of their vacations etc. Alot of gals have run into alot less drama by having two separate accounts…
However, I just have my one Facebook account & while I have alot of poling friends added & like anything pole related through that FB page, I have chosen to not post things about poling there or pole pics or video.

Yay! I'm glad the second class went so much better!
I did find great value in having the SV lessons along with taking studio lessons. Why? because if I was struggling with a move in class, the days I wasn't in pole class, I could work on it through SV lessons and the majority of the time thanks to Veena's detailed lessons, I would have the move by next class! It is great to have the ability to continue to work on a move at home with SV lessons as your guide 🙂

I also have Jamilla DVDs & AA DVDs. But I use them more as a visual reference than instructional DVDs though. Neither really break down the moves that well & IMO move too quickly.
I too think SV lessons are better than any instructional DVD I have brought or tried. Veena just has a great way of breaking down moves, showing you points of contact & shows you different ways to get in & out of moves, which I love. I highly recommend Veena’s lessons 🙂

When I first started poling, I didn’t really need grip aids but once I started inverting & climbing though, I began to sweat more, so I started using them & it has helped me through my lessons & at home practices. I know I wouldn’t be where I am without their assistance.
I also have mighty grip gloves but I don’t use them that often at all usually only when I am working on a new SG or TG move. Then once I get used to the hand positioning & doing the move I ditch the MG gloves.
I am envious of polers who never have to use grip aids…if you don’t need them, then don’t use em’ but some of us aren’t so lucky!

I really believe that appropriate warm up/stretching is very important before each pole session to avoid injury & to properly warm up your muscles. I also think its important to do moves & spins that progressively build your strength.
Definitely explore other studios if you can. When you find the studio that’s right for you, you’ll know it.

Wear some nice lingerie & do a Chair dance routine or sexy dance routune w/floor work incorporated into it.
