If you are new to pole the dizziness & nausea subsides with time and more practice. A good thing to do is a spin, then pose, pole hold move, spin, then floorwork, spin, dancy dancy, spin. You get the picture…basically do a spin, then do other filler moves, then do another spin, then filler moves this helps gain your equalibirum back/recover between spins. After a few weeks poling, the dizziness will subside greatly. If it doesn't, I know some girls use motion sickness bands when they pole or take half a dramamine (less drowsy ones) before poling. They also have these motion sickness drops that you dab behind you ear, which I hear help too.

It's worth it to save up so you can buy a good pole that will last your several years. Trust me, I brought 2 crappy "novelty" poles (carmen electra & peekaboo) when I started out because I was in a rush to just have a pole at home. I just ended up throwing away over $300 by buying those 2 poles when I should have just saved up another $100 and brought an xpole right off the bat!
After almost a year using the carmen and then peekaboo poles, I finally got my xpole xpert by using a few hundred from my tax return $. BEST purchase I have ever made. I've had my xpole for almost 3 years. It's in great condition but I've never been thrilled with the chrome finish, so I will probably upgrade to a TG 45mm this summer.
The stages are a bit more pricey you are right about that. I would love one when I get a house but it's hard for me to spend anything more than $450 on hobby related items, it's like my cap off price lol. Can you just get a regular pole? Is there no where a regular pole will work in your home?

Wanted to add while I said that I wouldn't mind giving a pole dance for my hubby there is a drawback to it for me, which some of the other ladies mentioned…I feel awkward, subconsious and clumsy when I do put on a show for him. I get a little stage fright. Now when performing for strangers it's not as bad maybe it's because theres a chance that if I mess up, I won't ever see those people again and/or most of the time strangers don't really catch your mess ups, they are just in awe that you are a "regular woman/girl next door" who can do tricks on the pole lol whereas my hubby gives me the critical eye when I am dancing for him and will sometimes say straighten that leg, slow down, relax, stop holding your breath etc, which makes me even more nervous lol

I rarely perform for my hubby. Not because I don't want to, I just forget! He does ask from time to time for a "show" but by the time I finish practice, I am too tired to put on a show. Not only that but most of my practices are purely hardcore straight to business poling not too much sexy or freestyle going on. Also, I struggle with transitions, combos and flow (always have) but I really want to work on all that in 2013. Perhaps doing a special dance for my hubby 1-2x a month will help with that and make him happy as well.
The great thing about my hubby though is that since I've been poling he really "gets" how much strength and hardwork goes into it now and when we go places where there are polers he and I call off the move names and if it is a cool combo we discuss the POC's, so I can try it at home lol

FYI workshops are now posted! I'm sooo excited! I've booked my room & booked two workshops(plan on booking 1 more next week). I wish it was Sept already! I'll keep an eye on this thread because I would love to coordinate a meet and greet and/or pole jams with other Veeners who will be going too! This is my first pole convention and I want to make the most out of it and have as much fun as possible! Squeeeeeeee!

And it sounds like your arm strength needs a little boost too: Doing light weight (using 5-8 pound hand weights) exercises that targets strengthening shoulders, triceps & biceps, as well as doing daily push ups, plank holds, using a pull up bar and elbow/hands stands will help there.

Work on core strengthening exercises as all those mounts depend alot on core strength. Doing pole tucks & holding them, scissor & straddle leg pole pull ups, practicing controlled elbow & handstands, also help tons. And practice, practice, practice on controlling how you get in & out of your inverts. HTH!

Congrats to both of you! And kudos for still poling & exercising while pregnant!

I’ve been off the pole for almost 3 months myself, so I’m in the same boat. My advice would be to use the first 2-3 weeks just working on building your strength back up & stretching, then maybe going through moves you used to be able to do to gauge where you are at, then going from there. Because you might not need to start all the way from the beginning, just may need to build your strength back up & touch up on your skills.
However, If you feel like you need to start from scratch, then I would use Veenas 30 day challenge lessons.

Don’t stop going! It may have just been you were in a class that day with all the spring chickens. The later or earlier class might be a different story completely. I started poling at 38 & while there is mix of ages & sizes, i was a little unsure in beginning like what in the hell am I doing here? But after a couple of weeks it didnt matter anymore because poling quickly became something I loved. I am definitely one of the oldest ones at my studio…do I care? Nope. Pole has changed me & my life in so many ways that I regret waiting & not starting sooner!
So keep with it, enjoy your journey & don’t worry about the other girls ages or abilities, pole for you & no one else.

I have had a 50 mm chrome for last 3 years and really have difficulty with grip and alot of sliding issues. Plan on getting a 45 mm TG in the next couple of months FINALLY!
My advice would be to buy a 45 mm now.

Congrats! Don’t worry, your invert will get more polished with time & practice!
