Time, time, time & patience my friend. You’ll get it but wait until your body is strong enough & ready. Safety first. Just keep up the pull ups, tuck holds & follow veenas strength & conditioning & youll be ready soon. Happy poling!

I’ve been poling 2 1/2 years & I got my implants (saline, under the muscle, went from a saggy small B to a D) about 3 months into starting pole. I stopped 2 weeks prior to surgery & didnt start pole classes again until 5-6 months post op & i started slow back @ the beginning level…

I still continue to massage my boobies everyday & take vitamin e still a couple times a week to keep them soft & maintain my pocket. I am now starting to do advanced moves & I pole 1-2x a week & my boobies are doing well….no distortion, change in their shape or how they sit on my chest either, they are perfect & look & feel natural. I make sure to wear a sports bra or cami top w/bra to bed & i rarely go braless. I paid alot for these babies, so i baby them & take good care of them.

It was one of the best things i have ever done for myself, I would do it again in a heart beat 🙂 I love my boobies!

For me, I’ve found that having studio veena lessons AND poling at a studio, i have progressed at a better pace than when i did just studio lessons or did just veena lessons solo. It really helps me to be able to learn at the studio, then practice at home w/the help/back up of sv lessons. But it took me 2 years to figure out that thats what worked best for me.

Really think about your goals in pole & try out all your options to find out what learning format works best for you…happy poling!

I know its tough but try not to compare yourself to others (yep all women do it), we all learn at different speeds. Take myself for instance…i am a tad slower learner but ive come to realize that it is the right pace for me. I didnt invert until i was poling about 3 to 4 months that was my studios policy though, which i totally think is great timing. And i just got the inverted crucifix to where i could hold it longer than a few seconds a few months ago & i’ve been poling almost 3 years!

I really think practicing 2+ times a week + strength & conditioning training makes a big difference in how a person progresses as well.

I only pole 1x a wk sometimes 2x, so i also attribute that to my little bit of a slower progression.

Keep practicing, relax & have fun with it & youll see progress. Time, patience & preserverance is the key 😉

I got the tacky to help w/my SG moves that i am just starting to work on. I didnt like them at all returned them the very next day & immediately brought the non tack ones instead.

The non tack ones i like better, they give just enough grip but not so much to where you are completely relying on them for grip, if that makes sense. Only thing i dont like is that they rub weird (friction) on the wrist with prolonged wear, which i wish they didnt.

Hi welcome to studio veena! And ofcourse you can do this @ your age! I’m 40 w/3 kiddos & hope to still be poling for as long as possible (into my 50s i hope), I love it!

I agree that Veenas lessons are great…even though i currently go to a studio, i think veenas lessons are better structured, broken down/explained better than i get in studio lessons.

Also the positive support, friendships & advice the ladies here give is bar none.

So dont be shy, get on the pole & get started!

I was thinking the same thing especially after i hurt my wrist the other day working on split grip moves. I just ordered the strength wraps aerial amy mentions in her blog. I plan on only using them when working extensively on SG & TG moves. Once the strength in my wrist gets stronger my goal is to use the strength wraps less & less. I really think(& hope) i can benefit from the stability & support that wrapping the wrist can provide.

I’m a 36 D (implants) & have difficulty finding a bra that fits & doesnt look like a grandma bra! I’ve recently discovered bali bras sold at kohls, which are great everyday bras. I love their wirefree bras. For sexy bras, i buy from fredricks of hollywood.

Those are brands. Pleasers & Ellies are pretty pricey even for plain platforms its $50+. I have 4 pair of funtasma platforms(do a google search, I believe funkypair.com sells them) the are about $10-15 cheaper. I only have 1 pair of pleasers that cost me a pretty penny & that pair has diamonds/rhinestones all over them. I havent even danced in them yet! I like the pleaser brand, they make some really nice shoes but I only buy them every once in a while as a special treat. 🙂 The funtasmas I use for my weekly poling. HTH.

It took about 3-4 months for mine to completely heal. DEFINITELY don't change the belly ring out until your are fully healed and when you do be quick about it because just a few hours with the belly ring out and it will start to close up that quick. Just keep following the after care instructions that your piercer gave you and it will heal just fine.

I've had my belly ring about 6 years and still have to be careful what BB rings I buy. If you have sensitive skin (I do) make sure that the BB rings you buy are 100% surgical steel. I've had allegic reactions(hole gets infected, starts to scar and will start to close up) with any belly ring that is just plated with surgical steel or not a hypoallegenic material/metal. I had to have my belly button repierced once( it got super infected & closed up) because of using cheap belly rings and I won't make that mistake again. The piercer said if it happens again, I won't be able to get it repierced because i have scar tissue in that area now.

As far as my pole dancing with it, it hasn't been an issue at all and even when I first got it, snagging wasnt an issue either. I love my belly ring 🙂

I have the floorwork & fundamentals. I like both alot. Simple and to the point with some very helpful arm and leg isolation exercises (which I am REALLY crappy at, so I really appreciate that she has those on the dvd).

I am starting to work on my splits (slow process), so I plan on getting her stretching dvds to add to my collection soon.

You might like Cardio Barre if they offer it in your area. Its pretty much ballet mixed w/pilates & flexy training. I liked it but the studio that has it is really far from me 🙁

Thanks guys for the feedback. Since being laid off I currently don't have medical insurance, so I won't touch the HCG drops, you guys' input is enough to keep me away from it.

@platinumani YIKES about your coworker dying because of HCG drops. I'll steer clear.

@kali21 do you have a profile on myfitnesspal? I do. If you want to be friends on there inbox me your MFP username and Ill send you a friend request 🙂

July 31, 2012 at 7:45 pm in reply to: Short Naturally Kinky Hair — A Winner?

I really think it is a personal preference and you should go with the hair do that you feel happy, confident and comfortable with.

I was totally a braids girl for over 20 years, I LOVED my braids, it was my thing and people always talked about how much they loved me in braids. However, I was in a bad accident 2 years ago and lost most of my hair due to PTSD. It wasn't growning back either, so I started wearing wigs about a year ago. At first, I hated the idea of wigs (I didn't want to be seen as the stereotypical black girl who wore a wig or weave) but now I love wearing them because I can do a short hairstyle one week and long luxurious the next week or I can wear a curly, kinky wig when I am feeling "sassy". Recently though, I fell in love with short pixie wigs, so that's what I have been sporting. I invert and everything in the wigs with no problems, I just make sure the adjustment strap is at the tightest setting inside the wig before I pole and I haven't lost it once. The only time I feel it shift a little is if I do a shoulder roll or something during floorwork where my head sort of drags on the ground and pulls the wig with the movement.

I love natural hair dos though if and when my hair starts to grow back, I will definitely probably go with something short and natural 🙂

@brownsfantricia my hubby is latino too and he also likes when I wear my hair natural 😉 he doesn't care for all the wigs, weaves and relaxers either.

You have to send your pole to them and they put the sleeve on. And it's pretty pricey…close to the price of an xpole 🙁 I might look into one in the future though, might be worth it to have one just to learn new moves on that require a good grip solid grip.
