@hotelchick I'm right there with you sister. I wish every day that I had my 20 something energy and stamina back. 2 days max of pole or zumba or any exercise in general is about all my body can take, its frustrating at times. It takes me 2-3 days to recover between any type exercise. And if I have a really intense pole class, it takes me a week to not feel completely fatigued, sore and weak. I WISH I could pole 3-4x a week, i think I would be so much further along in my poling progress if I had the stamina. I know part of it has to do with my recently discovered low thyroid but still waaaaahhhh!

I am no where close either…a few months ago, I wasn't even interested in trying it and even had the thought of maybe I would be fine if I never learned it…the SM scares me about as much as handstands do. But lately I have been thinking about it alot and I am ready to start seriously prepping for it. In class, we have tried a couple of prep moves for it every now and then and I can barely even do that. I just don't get how to do it + scared=no go. sigh.
Hang in there with patience and determination I'm sure youll get it. Maybe a skype lesson from skittles might help you get it. I was thinking about doing that because Ive seen how quickly shes helped others here pick up moves they were struggling with…

I suggest getting a pole for home that does both static and spinning. It's a good idea to learn on both modes. I have an xpole at home that can do both static and spin.
I've learned on static these last 2 years but I'm planning to learn on spin mode sooonnnn….:)

Yep all my vids on here were shot with my flip. It easy to use and idiot proof too and the best part is it has a USB port built into it, so you can upload vids you shoot to your computer immediately after shooting it. They sell a tripod for the flip but it's short, so you'll have to prop it up on something eye level or find a tall tripod that will be compatible with the flip, which all you have to do is go into your local electronics store and someone there should be able to help you find a tall tripod that will work for it.
I'd shop around though you can probably find the flip for a little lower price somewhere else.
This is the one that I have you definitely want a 3rd generation flip at least 4 GB but if you can afford an 8 GB, I'd say go for the bigger memory. http://www.amazon.com/Flip-UltraHD-Video-Camera-White/dp/B0040702IE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1335502491&sr=8-3
Here's the tripod http://www.amazon.com/Flip-Video-ATR1B-Tripod/dp/B000VJRUKS/ref=pd_bxgy_p_img_b

Shave with lube (yes I said lube) it really helps keep those razor bumps at bay. Silicone lube is the best but water based works too and is cheaper than silicone. I learned this from a porn star (along with some other amazing grooming tips with non traditional items lol) Slather your vajayjay with lube wait about 1 min (to let it penetrate & moisterize the skin) then start to shave. Make sure it stays pretty wet with the lube(you'll have to do this with water based more so than the silicone because water based tends to dry out) as you shave–don't let it dry out.
I'll have to try the lavender oil…didn't know that tip. I'm highly prone to razor bumps no matter what I do but with the lube shave, I get a lot less than I get when I use shaving cremes.

MemberApril 26, 2012 at 1:24 pm in reply to: Who’s Going to Pole Convention this year ?I'm planning on being there come hell or high water! Since I live in the LA area and most of the workshops are sold out, I probably will only be attending Sat for the free seminars and Showcase that evening.
I'm going to order my SV button next week, so y'all can track me down easier! If any of you are interested, we can exchange cell numbers (inbox me if interested in this) and I can text you when I have made it to the convention and we can meet up…
Can't wait to meet as many of you as I can!

I used to run track when I was in JR High and I was really good —– I was a sprinter– i never could get into cross country…I majorly dislike CC running . But due to a knee injury I stopped my freshman year in HS. I recently started jogging/running again but stopped when I got laid off a cpl months ago (I ran in the neighborhood of my work office before work 2-3x a week) but like hyperhorsegirl my form sucks and I haven't been able to really correct it either. Add to that that I was never good at or liked to do long distance running in the first place and I too am clumsy. I feel like I am running in slow mo when I run and my feet and legs feel strange and I feel like I probably look like a dork but I still try to do it from time to time because I do feel good and energized after a run…
However, running on a treadmill as opposed to outside, definitely is more doable and has less dork factor for me.

Girl I feel your pain…I have a 50 mm chrome. I got it because I thought it would be a good idea to learn on the biggest size, so I could pole on any size pole if it came down to it. I liked it at first but now I can't stand it and have issues ALL THE TIME with it. It's just too shiny and new still despite me having it 2 years. I am always telling my husband I wish there was some way to wear down the chrome on it with a lotion or solvent or something.
Our poles at the studio that I go to are 45 mm and are soooo much easier to use because they have nice wear and tear on them, which no doubt seems to make them easier to grip. I can nail moves consistently at the studio but then I get home and it's no go ALL THE TIME. I'm thinking about getting a 45 mm in TG when we move into a house in a few months because this slippery business is driving me batty!!!!
However, I've found that fully stretching for a good 20-30 mins before hand and 10-15 mins of dancing around the pole before doing tricks on the pole does help "some" but not by much. A completely cold pole +cold muscles=major slip city.

I was recently laid off, which messed up my plans to be there all 3 days and taking a couple of of the pole clinics but I am still planning on being there in some capacity. I only live about a 30 min drive from the location, so I might just hang out all day Saturday and for the showcase that night. Still going back and forth about whether the hubby will be tagging along or not. Would looove to meet as many of you as I can.
Also if you guys do set up a pole jam at Verucablue's studio, I'd LOVE to be there, so keep me posted on that please.
I'm soooo excited!!!!

MemberApril 9, 2012 at 6:56 pm in reply to: What is your “off the pole” workout routine?Zumba and daily callestinics sets (2-3x a day for about 10 mins each set) at home–push ups, sit ups, streching, balance ball & pull ups. I plan on getting back into running as well next week, I stopped for awhile.

Yep I was saying the same thing the other day! I'm a slow poke…been in a rut. I know that if I would just man up and practice more I would be further along than I am. Ce la vie I guess. Sigh.

Thanks for the tips guys I think it could be many of the things you all mentioned that are my problem.
@veena I can get into a basic invert easily and I have been making sure my knees are over my hands. I think my legs are the main issue, I do think that maybe my leg positioning may be wrong or something. I think I'll have to tape it, so I can see what I am doing with my legs. Also think alot of it is frustration and a little fear…being upside down while exciting, makes me a little nervous, it takes me a while to get upside down moves it seems. And my pole has been pretty cold…I can't seem to get it warmed up effiecently lately.
Thanks again guys, I'm not giving up hope!

I too vote for spin pole lessons and combos! I've been dying for this. Most studios in my area don't offer classes on spin pole. Please please please do this Veena it would be absolutely fab 🙂
