@aerialgypsy Yeah I know it can get costly…that’s why I’m only thinking about PT right now lol. More than likely it will just be GFI & health coach though. I do a lot of volunteer work in the community outreach & healthcare fields & a cpl of the clinics I volunteer at are interested in me creating a healthy living program/workshop for their patients.

Really do your research & find out what cert is more widely accepted in your area. If you plan on teaching pole in gym settings, call the popular gym chains & ask the hiring manager what is the common cert that they prefer their PT’s & GFI’s have. For instance in my area, I called the big gym chains & ACE & NSCA seems to be the preferred cert, so I plan on going for the ACE group cert first, then the ACE health coach cert. I am also thinking about doing the ACE PT cert later down the line. HTH!

I am trying to go as well! I’m dying to meet my FB pole buddies & SV peeps. I probably won’t know until May if I can go for sure though :/

If you don’t particularly want people in your town knowing your business & are trying to be discreet, you might look into clubs that are close to (30 min-1 hour) from your current city. Take a few hours to check out a few of the clubs that you are considering working at as a customer first. Once you have it narrowed down to 2-3 clubs, call the clubs and ask the process to apply– audition? etc. Look into baby sitting situation & get that set in stone before you apply. Decide what shifts you can do that will work for your babysitting situation. ie Thursday afternoon shift, Friday afternoon/early evening, Sat evening, Sunday afternoon and be ready with that info when you apply.
Good luck!

It took me about 4-5 months before I was able to do a basic invert. Pole is fricken HARD and we all learn at different paces & although frustrating at times, it’s OK. You will get it in your own time.
Work on other pole moves that you can do…work on making them pretty & going into & coming out of moves with control. Work on your core strength–I too recommend doing Veena’s Ab challenge, it is great & really helps.

MemberMarch 25, 2014 at 11:19 am in reply to: PLEASE HELP A FELLOW POLER FIND A GOOD POLE FOR A GOOD PRICE!Hi there! 🙂 I highly recommend staying away from amazon & eBay 98% of the poles sold through those outlets are fake xpoles, off brands/rip offs & unsafe.
If you buy used, do so from a fellow poler or pole dance studio only.
It’s worth it to wait a few extra weeks and save your money to buy a legit, safe pole from a trusted pole manufacturer or distributor direct. Xpole, Platinum stages and Lil Mynx are my recommendations.

Awe man wish I was closer to SD! I’m actually in the Los Angeles vicinity, which is 2 1/2 hours drive from SD. Have fun, we LOVE SD, it is a very pretty, calm & relaxing city.

Please keep me in mind if a spot opens up in the room closer to the convention, as I would like to go to the expo for 2-3 days(Thurs-Sat) but I won’t know if I will be able to go for sure until late July. -
I’ve tried every pole out there and I would highly recommend an Xpole. They have great customer service, they provide a wide variety of pole finishes, their poles are durable, sturdy and reliable and they are always improving their poles and coming out with new pole innovations that benefit the poler and the pole community as a whole. I’ve had my Xpole for over 4 years and it still looks and performs great. I agree that the spin mode on Xpole is slower than PS poles to me that is the only thing that is good about the PS poles is the great spin their poles have. Everything else about the PS poles–the quality, put up and down and finish I do not like. I have several friends too who have had nightmare experiences with PS customer service. I know that PS has been trying to improve their poles, customer service and trying to reinvent their brand the last couple of months but I still think Xpole is the cream of the crop they know what they are doing, they have this pole making thing down pact. Lil Mynx’s are nice poles for those who really like powder coated poles but it is definitely an acquired taste.
Good Luck and let us know what you end up getting!~Cali

I didn’t get back on the pole until 8 weeks post op & even then I took things really slow until I built my strength back up. I’ve had no weird bulges or contortion of my breast implant because of pole. They definitely get in the way for some moves particularly armpit grip moves ouch! But I love my boobies & if I had the choice to do it again, I would in a heartbeat…best thing I have ever done for myself.

Strip clubs Deja vu always usually has several good pole dancers in the mix at any De ja vu chain you visit across the nation. Sapphire is a huge & gorgeous club that also has a male revue on fri & sat in a separate room off of the main club. If you are a female, you can float back & forth between the room that has the male revue is in & the room that the female strippers are in. Sapphire is my favorite club in Vegas to hang out…it’s got a great atmosphere and I always have a good time there.

Don’t give up! They can be tricky at first to get the balance & mechanics down. You’re not alone! You can start with an elbow stand against the pole, then after practicing this for a couple of weeks to get use to it, then you’ll lift up into a forearm stand when you are comfortable. Then you’ll move to doing it against a wall, then on to doing them freestanding. I have been working on elbow and forearm stands against my pole for awhile(I am one of those who is scared of handstands) & have a couple of body positioning tips for starting out on elbow stands if you’re interested in seeing them, I’d be happy to Skype jam with you. Private message/inbox me if you’re interested 🙂
