I too vote for spin pole lessons and combos! I've been dying for this. Most studios in my area don't offer classes on spin pole. Please please please do this Veena it would be absolutely fab 🙂

I've been poling almost 2 years and I still have yet to find my style as well. But for me, I just let my body and the music move me. When I try to think too much or plot out how I should be dancing or moving, it always ends up looking forced and awkward. I also love to dance but am trying to keep a nice balance between pole dancing and pole fitness/tricks. For me, I am concentrating on learning my spins, poses and tricks with a little freestyle, floorwork and transition work here and there. I know that one day when I have everything learned, I will begin to piece it all together, so it all flows but for now, I am just enjoying it, learning and growing and just letting my body tell me what to do and doing what feels right. Just following my heart and soul basically 🙂

Yeah so I got sick about a week later, so this list went out the window! On a good note, I got my V invert out of the blue last night after not poling for a few weeks and I am now inspired to push myself over the next week to work on cleaning up my v invert and transitions from the v invert into inverted crucifix, gemini and scorpio. Once I get those to a place I am happy with I think I will (gulp) post a video…I haven't posted one in MONTHS.

I echo all the other gals comments. A rest day or two in between pole training sessions is essential.1 day of pole and spins, the next day stretching & floor work, the next day pole & spins, next day floorwork & transitions and so on and so forth. It's even a good idea to have a whole complete day where you do nothing and just let your body completely reset, relax and recoup.

Most ladies here practice 3-4 days a week. 🙂

Welcome to Studio Veena. Give your mom some time she may come around eventually once she really understands and sees the fitness, fun side of it and how empowering and life changing it can be. My mom was a little leary at first but now she thinks it's awesome and is even interested in me showing her some moves on the pole–my mom is very into keeping her body toned and in shape and she has seen what poling has done for my body and is impressed.

Some of my friends were weird too at first about my poling but they all are pretty supportive now.

It's hard to change the way people think of and see poling because most people connect poling with stripping unfortunately but we pole gals are changing folks views of poling one person at a time!

Don't let other peoples (relatives included!) opinions, comments or negativity get in the way of your dreams and what you want to do with your life….It's YOUR life not theirs.

I'll be there I am so excited! It's been almost a year and a half since I have step foot into a pole studio, so this is a big deal for me to have some fun at a studio again! I can't wait!

I've been battling this loose skin/baby pooch issue for about 5 years and I am not winning. I keep hearing cardio cardio and it's true because i have so many friends who have lost like 50+ pounds who had loose skin and they got rid of it via running, zumba, Turbo Fire, P90x, Insanity etc. but I am not a big fan of running or cardio in general, so that's where I am probably going wrong. I'm trying to get myself out of that.

I dabble in some Zumba (which I really like) but I have not been doing it lately as often as I should. I was doing hula but have been slacking off on doing it lately. Pole has been a bust too over the last couple of week as well due to life getting in the way more than I'd like. Did P90x a few times a week for a few months and didn't see results but I was to blame for that because I wasn't following the program as it's meant to be done. With P90x, you have to do the WHOLE program 100% to see results.

I really think a healthy diet & cardio are the key because I have seen it work for so many others. Now if only I could do it myself. sigh.

Just try and find a cardio exercise or program that you like and stick with it, I think is your best bet. Set little weekly or monthly weight and waist measurement goals for yourself and make it happen.

If you want to try some low evasive cosmetic type procedures to help you along, check into tickle lipo or lipo dissolve. I know those procedures help get rid of the fatty bulk layer, so you can have an easier time toning and tightening up the abs.

Good luck! We are all in this together!

For me, it would be lots of POLES! And several crash mats for us to use for those of us who are still working on our inverted moves 😉 Also, some knee pads to use & plenty of grip aids available would be great too. A great giveaway promotional item for you guys if you can get them made for the event would be wristbands! They are lifesavers for polers and we always welcome getting a new set!

    Hope that helps!

Yay! I'll keep my eyes open for you for a roomate/room for rent. Do you know what you are looking to pay in rent(your budget?) that will help when I am asking around. Hey the pole convention in LA is in late June, so you'll be moved out here in time for all that poling goodness & fun 🙂

Also do you all bring your hubby's to these conventions or do you make it a girls weekend only type thing? Just trying to figure out if I should just do this and take this as "me" time or bring the hubby. I kind of get the feeling I'll be so engulfed with pole workshops and seminars that if he came along it would be useless and he's just be sitting around by himself bored half the time. What do you guys think? Thanks.

I am struggling with the inverted v too. In fact I just posted a blog about my difficulties the other day! I am going to look into some of the tips that these ladies gave. Sounds like I also may be having a hip flexor issue! At least I feel a little better now knowing that I may have figured out what the issue is!
