I think if you think you’re ready to give spin pole a go, then go for it! Veena’s lessons (& spin pole lessons) are great, I highly recommend them.

I started out on static 3 yrs ago & still prefer static but I am finally ready to start working on spin mode, to broaden my pole bag of tricks 😉

I don’t workout, stretch or pole during my monthly. I just feel icky, achy, crampy, fatigued & super weak during that “time” so I just make it my rest days….you are not alone.

If you love pole that’s all that matters. Don’t be so hard on yourself enjoy this journey, YOUR journey because although each journey is different, they are all equally great.

I too am a “slower” learner but after 3 1/2 years of poling, I recently realized that at the end of the day, it all comes down to I’m doing what I love, it makes me happy and I just let the progress come when it does and no longer press myself to be perfect or get a new move on the 1st or even 200th try (ahem, talking to you caterpillar & Ayesha).

Enjoy the journey…even if it’s a long one with twisty roads & lots of uphill terrain 🙂

I’d suggest a 45mm if you have small hands & 45’s are pretty standard in the pole community now.

I wear 6 inchers for pole. They make me like 6’2, which is awesome enough for me, so that’s probably what I’ll stick with. My regular dress heels I like no more than 3-4 inches. But I have a few 6 incher heels in my dressy shoe collection.

What might help alleviate this issue is to create a pole name/persona. A lot of folks in the pole community do this. I keep my pole life and personal life separate. I no longer post anything pole related on my personal FB or twitter pages and I only have a few pole friends left on my personal pages. I now have a separate Calipolepixie Facebook, Twitter etc where I post about everything pole related. I am not ashamed of my poling at all, just got tired of the drama from family & friends related to it. Since I’ve separated my pole & personal lives, things have been drama free (I had family & friend bs related to my poling almost daily when I was posting about pole on my personal FB & twitter). But it’s really a personal choice, you have to really think about it & figure out what’s the best route for you in the grand scheme of things. It really sucks that pole is still an “issue” in society when it shouldn’t be…I mean it’s 2014 for cripes sake.

Very normal eventually your skin builds up a tolerance. But Keep aloe vera gel handy it helps soothe the burning and stinging.

My pole goals for 2014 are Ayesha, Jacknife, Handspring & Cartwheel mounts and Iron X! Working toward getting these all by April or before!!!

Also, combo and transition fluidity and spin mode poling (It’s time to get serious!) before the end of the 2014 🙂

Welcome to Studio Veena and congrats on winning the scholarship! Studio Veena lessons are GREAT and the gals who are members here are all so helpful and supportive. I’ve been poling 3 1/2 years. I’ll be honest, my first year poling was rocky, with the first 6 months being especially the hardest for me! And even as a pole “veteran” I still have my off/bad pole days, weeks and months lol. But I LOVE pole so much and it is such an awesome sport that I just can’t stop! Pole is a journey like no other and everyone’s pole journeys are different, so just take your time, listen to your body and enjoy YOUR journey. Happy Poling!

I sure have met a couple of people from SV & from FB pole community as well and plan on meeting a lot more! My husband used to lecture me about being so trusting of peeps I met & befriend in pole forums & on FB but he has also met a couple of the gals I have met up with & we didn’t get murdered, so lately he hasn’t been lecturing me as much although sometimes, I still get the discerning eye from him lol. However, I have never met anyone who I haven’t gotten to know online for awhile though & I think I am a pretty good judge of character, so so far so good in the not befriending a nutcase or psycho lol

I am curious about this too. I know go gos in LA make decent $$ but haven’t found out how these go gos are getting gigs. I know Las Vegas has a BIG go go market too. If I find any info out or stumble across any auditions, I will post it here
