When it comes to juniors it might be a tough sell even though it’s more acrobatic and no heels parents may get a little bent out of shape. We (San Diego)have a circus school that does Chinese acro pole and that is good for kids cause it’s acro and climbing and strength not really spinning and climbing and whatever else that parents will be accusing you of teaching their kids. And of course every child will need their parent to sign a waiver. But I think if you keep it Cirque Du Solei type of stuff then I don’t see why too many parents will have a problem with it.

I live in CA and I have Chrome and it’s not that grippy at all for me. I’m always using tac of some form. At my studio they have the brass kind of pole and man I stick pretty good on it unless it is a really hot day, but in the winter it’s pretty solid. =)
But I’m not going to give up my chrome pole though. i figured that one day all will workout and I’ll figure out the magic formula to stick better.

It depends on what type of story you want to tell. I say any song where there is a duet cause one person can tell one artist’s side of the story and the other person can do the other side. it could be cool.

I like going between the 2 of them. When I need a quick workout I use Venna and when I am ready to get down to the nitty-gritty I use Cleo’s or other DVDs that I have for pole. I like to switch it up.

OH MY DEAR SWEET LORD! I am so sorry that you are experiencing this. I send you so much love and light right now. I can not imagine having to do that. Well let your mother know that there are people out in the world that have never met her, but send her peace and love. God Bless you BOTH.

I personally like the sexy part of it. It took me a long time to get comfortable with how my body moves and flows. Figure out what I do that I think is sexy. All of the girls that do go to my studio are there for the sexy stuff because they take what they learn and they use it in the strip clubs. I’m not in that profession, but I do have friends that are and you need to know how to connect with their sexy sensual side. I think that they should have put a limit of sexiness sense it was showcase that all ages could attend. You know what I mean? Or have an age limit. The instructor is a grown woman and showed bad judgement and the dude didn’t have to sit there for it. He could have said, “Nah, I’m good and walked off the stage. If she would have pulled my man up my man would have said no thank you and left her looking dumb on stage. lol Also I would have stood up and said something about it. I’m just a person that doesn’t stand for nonsense or disrespect. and her doing that to your friend’s boyfriend was disrespectful. I hope your friend let’s her know that. I wonder if the instructor is just use to getting away with stuff like that? You know? That nobody held her accountable for anything.

I would say if you don’t like the courses, then simply don’t go to them or find a new studio all together. Better yet I think you need to voice your opinion to the instructors maybe see if there were other people that found it inappropriate that will go with you. You know what they say there is safety in numbers. Ask them if they were aware that there were minors there? They might have had a brain fart and possibly forgot. Me myself I would never bring a child to something like that, but that’s just me.

November 24, 2014 at 2:58 pm in reply to: Pole “shame” How do you deal with it?

Well if it’s your mother’s house then she has the right to tell you to take it down temporarily, it’s when it’s your house that it would make me say, “Really”? Everyone that I’m close to knows that I pole as well, but if I lived in my mother’s home I would take my pole down too because there is no need for me to have it up all the time and for the sake of possibly embarrassing her,it would just be better to take it down. Why leave it up? For what purpose? Is it to start a fun conversation, or ( fill in the blank) it’s different for different people. I keep mine up cause I’m too lazy to take it back down. =)
My mother’s friends don’t really need to know in that way. You know walking in and BAM there is a pole in the middle of her living room. They can learn about my hobby in a conversation. If people are going to be all sorts of negative about it then Oh well, that it on them. If they are open to it then I’ll educate them, but if they aren’t I kick them to the side and keep doing my thang. There is no shame in poling, so never let anyone make you feel that way, but just know that not everyone is open to this sort of sport and you don’t want to make your mother uncomfortable.

Congrats I want to open a pole studio, but right now it wouldn’t be smart cause I just got a house. What got me into pole is that I’ve always liked it. Even the club type after I saw Fawnia. I bought a pole in 2005 before there was even a studio in my area, so I grabbed all of Fawnia’s DVD’s and started doing it. Then I moved and the apartment that I moved to wouldn’t let me put up my pole because I had a pole that drilled into the ceiling. It was a Lil Mynx pole.So for about 3 years I wasn’t practicing. Then i was hired for the job I do now and when I was parking my car around the corner form my office I saw the window POLE SINSATION. I was like WHAT??!!!! I signed up for classes went on and off for 3 years and then they had to relocate I had to stop and now that they are reopening I’m so happy! But what got me doing pole was that I was getting into relationships where the men were cheating on me and when you are cheated on you get depressed and you don’t have joy or feel sexy. Pole gave me an outlet to care about myself and only myself. If I want to show it off it’s my choice. I don’t care if some dude doesn’t think I’m sexy cause when I’m at the studio I know I’m sexy… unless I’m learning something new then it’s up for debate. Ha, ha,!! Pole will always be there for me, and when I don’t feel great about myself the reminds me that I am AMAZING!

I also like that there are women big and small all shades of the rainbow that are there to learn and have a good time.

I was raised christian and now I’m just Spiritual. Here is how I see it. Pole dancing is no different really then any other dance. It’s a way to express yourself by using movement. Anybody Christian or not that like to use the bible or what not to bring you done for simply expressing yourself differently always remind them of the 9th commandment because if they were truly Christian the judgement wouldn’t even be there. To be Christian is to be Christ like and there are some that may not remember that.

Well I didn’t know about Xpole when I got mine. I got an S Factor pole chrome and it’s the removable one 50 mm. I’m petite too and the 50 mm does make it a challenge to feel secure in your grip, but my logic was if i can handle the 50mm the rest are a breeze, but when it comes to inversions and certain tricks you do feel more secure on a smaller pole. My pole is much to slick, so I’m in the market myself for a new pole. The removable poles have a compression pad which all you do is take a stud finder drag it a long your sealing when you find a stud you know that a beam is right there as well. That is what you need. The compression pad pushes up against the ceiling and the beam so it is secure. If you get one where you have to drill into the ceiling then I hope that you own the home because if you are in an apartment most places won’t allow that. Also compression pads are easy up and easy down should you have it in the living room and don’t want people to know. Are you military? I am and really for me I just make do and I use tac. But if you don’t want to use it xpole has the titanium gold and the powder coating I believe with some of their poles. Lil Mynx is pretty good,my friend has a pink one and since there is paint on it, you will grip trust and believe. Man you’re lucky for having wood floors, that makes practicing easier if you want to practice in heels. I have carpet, so I’m always barefoot. Either one is fine. The fun thing about Lil Mynx is that you can get a custom color on your pole, so if you want a funky color to jazz up your dance then you can. It cost a lot more, but it’s pretty cool.

Awww I’m so bummed I can’t go! I really wanted to because I wanted to look at a possible new pole. The one I have is too slick and I’ve been using it for 3 years and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better. I don’t want to depend on tac every time I want to practice.

I have an S Factor pole and I didn’t even know about X pole until about 2 years ago. I have a chrome pole and it is so hard to grip. I have to use so much sticky aid its ridiculous. I have heard that people like the gold titanium poles though. Its still slick, but not as much.

Oh and ItsEss. its fine really there is no balancing really. Most studios are open at night and most people muster at 7am and are off by 3pm or 4pm unless you have duty. I was Navy so the rough part is when you go underway. Basically all you can do is do some weight training and stretching. Oh and please from Enlisted to Officer, please treat enlisted with respect just like you want to be treated with respect ( after all enlisted taught you your job) and please when it is not your chow hours bust your own dishes. FSA’s and CS’s work too hard to have to clean up after officers when its their rare moment to have a break. Which is very few and far in between. Spread that to your fellow officers if you decide to join.
