I am prior Navy and you know what I think that Pole is waaaaay more harder than the PRT. I don’t know if anyone had seen it on the news or even YouTube, but females that pole are stronger than female Marines. To pass boot camp you have to do 3 pull ups and the majority of those going through can’t do that, so they get held back until they can. *Sigh*
Well on YouTube there is a video of female pole dancers that can do more than 3 and even uses 2 fingers. Its really cool.I actually had a friend that even stripped while she served. And as long as you don’t advertise it and you don’t use any part of the uniform then there is nothing that they can do about it. You are allowed to take on a second job. Also don’t agree to strip for any male service members especially if you serve with them (That is just a can of worms that you do not want to open). Keep it quiet.

That’s nice. I would always tell girls in my studio to make them smile. “When life looks ugly, POINT YOUR TOES”! Ha, ha, the owner Maridza was always yelling point your toes, it makes everything so much prettier. lol
As a matter of fact she had a daughter in December and while she was in the hospital, I said, “You;ll do great Maridza. Relax, breath and POINT YOUR TOES! she got a good laugh over that. -
I think that it might be the web browser that you are using. I don’t know if you use internet explore, fire fox, chrome or safari, but try switching browsers. I didn’t have to pay to see other peoples video. if you did then I believe a message would pop up stating that you aren’t a member or something like that.
As for the pole. I personally wouldn’t do that. If you don’t do it right you can cause damage to your ceiling and your skin. I say save up and get the real deal.

Lol, I’m imagining it now! You slide right out and you look up and your clothes are still there on the pole! lol too funny!

I’m not going to sand it. It was a thought, but I had the same thought process as you, so no I will not be doing that.

I have an S Factor Pole and its chrome When I bought my pole I didn’t even know that X Poles even existed (2005.) I have had it in my apartment for 3 years and it is a pain because I have sweaty everything, so at time’s I’m too slick. as for the room temp I just heat up my living room so the pole isn’t too cool on my skin and so I’m not cold while I’m practicing. Unfortunately using the hair dryer to warm myself up or the pole never worked. I literally have to warm up with my pole. I don’t know why it has to be that way, but I guess that is the best way for me to get my grip. I have to establish my relationship with my pole before it will cooperate. I have used so many products and I guess it comes down to how much do you want to stick? I recently discovered a spray called Firm Grip and it was used mainly by golfers and baseball players, but now pole dancers and aerialists are using it too. Caution it is extremely sticky! so just a little is fine. I found it on the Pole and Ariel website, but I think they might be sold out so look for it on Amazon or even at your local sporting goods store. I would only use it on your hands. If you want something for your body iTac and the other products are fine for that. Also Cleo the Hurricane has a good mix of regular products that you combine and put on your body that makes your body sticky (interesting concoction). If you put the Firm grip on your skin you may have a painful experience, so I do not recommend that.
After reading some of the responses I’ve never thought about sanding my chrome pole because I thought that it would damage the pole. I’ll think about that.
DancePantsPrincess, question for ya? What type of pole does your studio use? My studio uses brass which is so helpful, but they were special ordered because our ceilings are really high and I think poles stop at 14 or 15 ft. Our ceilings are like 18ft. Maybe if your studio didn’t special order like mine then you could buy the brand and type that they have. -

Well I did HS Cheer and we always wrapped our wrist and ankles for the extra support especially if we had LONG practice days, so I do some times when I pole. But ONLY if I’m going to be practicing for a long time. sometimes your wrist get tired and you need extra support. If I’m just trying something real quick then I don’t bother. Also how you wrap can aid in not hurting your wrist, buy over bending it or tweaking it.
lilredrobinhood, I’m sorry you have those sorts of people around you. That’s just janky. I have never had that experience in my life… so far there is always a first time. Actually I just went to a doctor because my right shoulder was starting to feel like it was grinding or something like that. It hurt to do push ups and certain moves. I had a male doctor and told him what I did and he was pleasantly surprised and was asking all sort of questions about the training and the strength and so forth. After he evaluated my shoulder he said basically I over used that side of my body (naturally, its my dominate side) and he said it was time to rest that side and start building up my weaker side. He gave me stretches and stuff to do for the side that hurt, but all in all there wasn’t much to do to it other than stretch and rest it.

MemberMarch 7, 2014 at 10:19 am in reply to: how to avoid ‘leprechaun legs’ in cartwheel mount?I saw the picture and busted up laughing! I had a feeling that that was what it was, but having a visual is even better! I think it just takes time and change in technique that would help. Like you’ll have to stay really mindful to at least hold one leg straight and pointed. Then maybe muscle memory will take over and then you’ll be able to work on the other leg.
I’m looking at this site at work and Thank God no body is really here right now. I really busted a gut! I cried a little.

Oh I see the difference Firm Grip is for your hands and tuff skin is for if you are banding your wrist, ankles or what ever and need extra stick to insure they stay on.

Oh my LORD! Anyone looking to STICK I have a product for you! I don’t know how long this stuff has been out, probably a while, but I just found it because it was being sold on Ariel and Pole’s website. Its called Firm Grip. Actually there are 2 types Firm Grip and Tuf-Skin. I don’t know what the difference between the 2 are, but I bought Firm Grip. It was selling out quick, so if you can’t get it on that website you can get it from Amazon or possibly at your local sporting good store because originally it was for golf and baseball players.
Oh my goodness! It comes in an aerosol spray and a pump spray I believe. I bought the aerosol. So you spray on your palms and fingers to create grip. Here is the Lesson. In my mind I thought, “It’s a spray, so let me add a good amount”. So I spray it on nice and generous. DON’T DO THAT! I waved my hands around to dry it and instantly I felt the stickiness. I looked at my husband and said “Wooo, this is really sticky. I tapped his fore arm and he was like “DAMN”! So I was happy; I needed grip because I’m working on my twisted grip handspring and true grip handspring and my pole is chrome, so I’ve always been scared to try it for fear that I would slide down even using dry hands or iTac. So I gave it a go after seeing a tutorial by Julia Wahl and FoxxyAuthority and I don’t have the ab strength to hold it for long, but I got a little air time. I was content and then I tried to let go of the pole. Yeah it took some careful effort because I really sprayed my hands good. My husband saw my face as I was pulling my hands away and he asked if I was ok? I was fine, but I was surprised how much my hands stuck. lol
I told my husband that I didn’t have the ab strength to really lift and hold I was depending more on swinging my leg back into the lift then using my abs to lift. So my husband had me lay my back down on our dinner room chair and he stood behind me and told me to clasp my hands tight around his back and then lift my legs up level to my hips and hold it. Man it was hard, but I saw what he was doing. So I did 3 to get the idea and I discovered that my hands and fingers were stuck together! ROFLMBO! My husband had to pry my fingers apart. So yes I ran and washed my hands TWICE with soap and there was still some on my hands, so I sprayed my hands down with rubbing alcohol and it cut a little more of the tack, but now its completely off my hands. I learned a good lesson. This stuff works, but PLEASE don’t go over board like I did! Since I decided to do so, the skin on my hands is a little tender, but not too bad.
I hope the pictures come out on it ok

I’m not sure what to choose.

I had to take breaks through 2013 because I had to get another certification for work and I also had a weak shoulder, so I didn’t really get a chance to practice or learn new tricks. So I just want to be able to actually do a routine that I’m happy with sharing and to get more inverts. I’m still working on King Pigeon too. I’ve been doing this for 3 years and I feel like I’m still brand spanking new. *Sigh*.

I have a couple of pairs. I love them for when I’m doing flexibility training. It keeps my legs nice and warm. My Mother used to dance ballet and she said it was a great way to keep your legs warm when you weren’t training. You can buy some from discountdance.com.
