This is my only form of strength training for the most part. Sometimes I will use my Wii Fit for strength training. I will definately start practicing more going the other direction.

I haven’t actually purchased the pole yet. I need my sister to put it on her credit card (long story, I’ll spare you the details) and she hasn’t called me back yet tonight. But when I do I was going to get a lil mynx (I know I’m in the minority here). And as far as I’m concerned it can’t get here fast enough, but obviously buying the thing might help get it here faster. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Welcome to the site! The girls here are awesome and Veena’s lessons have been a great teaching tool for me! I am also the minority since I have a lil mynx. I had no other choice as I needed a vaulted ceiling pole and lil mynx had it and I love it!

I feel your pain! I went to the doctor and I weighed in at 150. Not too bad, except for the fact I am only 5’3. I need to lose about 10 pounds to make it to what I weight last year and 20 to make it to what I weighed 2 years ago. When my dad died I was eating out of depression and I never stopped. I fall off every diet because apparently I have no will power. I tried jogging, but I have horrible shin splints. I hate exercise! I can’t afford the diet food programs like jenny craig and the other popular one. We should start a support group!

I actually went to the doctor yesterday. I’ve noticed that I’ve been getting these horrible heat flashes. My heart starts racing or slows down and I start sweating everywhere! My back, stomach, armpits, breasts, face, hands, feet! I mean everywhere you can sweat I do. I’ve been suffering for about 2 years. Its one of tow things. Anxiety attacks which sound about right that seems to have been onset by my dad’s death a couple of years ago. Or I may have a heart condition that my sister has. Irregular heart beats she will either need surgery or meds for the rest of her life. I had an EKG done yesterday and I haven’t heard anything back yet. He put me on 3 different meds. 2 for anxiety and 1 for heart pulpitations. He says he is pretty sure it’s anxiety and the meds will help so I will stop getting those heat flashes. I feel your pain it totally sucks. I heard the botox works wonders!

I have trouble finding time as well. I work M-F from 8:30 – 4:30. In the morning I get myself ready for work, I make my son breakfast then wake him up. I drop him off at school and then head to work. After work I pick him up from the after school program. We get home and I fix him a snack and start making dinner. I might try to squeeze in some spinning while dinner is cooking. If the hubby isn’t home from work I do that. I don’t pole in front of him since I am not comfortable with my body. I usually can kick butt doing pole sessions on weekends when my son is next door playing or visiting my mom.

Even if you can find time while kids are studying/showering/myspacing/etc something is better than nothing!

Awesome girl! You just completed a move I can’t do! I don’t know I am thinking its my height or leg shape, but the pole ends up on my calf and it hurts way too much. Good job for you though!

Its more than likely a lack of flexibility. it WILL hurt like a bleep https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_twisted.gif when you are first leaning this move. It hurrrrrtts. Remember too everyone’s legs are different lengths and sizes,….so while you do want the pole up as far as possible towards your knee and not on your calf…you may not be able to get your leg in exactly the same spot as me.

Thanks this makes me feel like I am not completly misunderstanding this move. I thought it might be my flexibility as well. I also have short legs, I am 5’3 so maybe it is a problem with length. Last thing I want though it to pop blood vessels on my calf! Should I just skip the knee hold and do the thigh hold?

Anyone else out there that is shorter who might be able to fill me on where your pole is while doing this move?

    Thanks everyone

Crap I made a response, but hit save instead of submit so I hit back button and deleted everything. I have several tattoos. I will start from the bottom and go up. Flowers on foot, heart on ankle, smokin cherries on front of each hip, pin up girl on a cross on my rib cage, angel and baby on left forearm, skeleton and baby on right forearm, and my favorite is my full backpiece. The whole outline is done it just needs coloring in 2 spots. It is Candyland. It was a favorite game of mine and my sister’s when we were growing up moving around military bases. My son loves to play it on my back. I don’t remember how to post pics in a forum, but you can see some in my profile. I was going to upload them today when I get home!

PS I can’t see yours. They show little red "x’s"

I am 29 and I’ll be the big 3-0 on December 8th. I am 5’3 and weigh 146. I need to lose at least 10 pounds, but would love to lose 15-20. I have a son who will be 7 on July 9th. I have many tattoos including a backpiece of candyland. I want to learn poling because its fun and low-impact. I have bad knees and shin splints so I am loving poling! Oh yea on here to meet great friends!

I am stuck in a pole rut big time! I just got it a cople weeks ago and I can do some of the basic spins. I can’t pole up. Apparently I have no upper body strength so I’ve been doing weights and push ups. Doesn’t seem to be helping. I am also having trouble with my hands slipping and being too scared to try some stuff. I’m a wuss!

I have had my Lil Mynx pole for about 2 weeks. I love it and have had no problems with it. It is slippery. I don’t know if its the pole or just me not being strong enough to pull up or hold on. My thighs grip it so I think its just my hands. Either way I love my Lil Mynx pole!

Hi! I installed my pole a couple weeks ago. I got a 10′ pole from Lil Mynx. I also have a vaulted ceiling so I have to buy a special mount. I love my Lil Mynx! I got the spinning one too so it can static or spinning. Totally secure with no worries. I would go with Lil Mynx for a vaulted ceiling!

Oh yeah I have it in my living room and it is totally removeable! The vaulted ceiling mount is permanent in the ceiling joust, but all you do is push the pole upward to remove. You can totally do spins and throwing your weight to one side and it doens’t wiggle at all!

Here are all of their poles

Here is the vaulted ceiling mount

I can take some pics tonight if you want to see what it looks like when you take the pole down. Let me know. Good luck!
