I would get your feet wet with performing at Detroit Aerial showcase. There is also a competition that is Theatrics and Artistry that same weekend. Charley Crystal is the contact person. Cleveland has quite a few showcases as does Columbus. Midwest would be your next best bet and they have everything from amateur to pro. Detroit is typically in late March and Midwest I believe is in July of next year.

So I just a wanna know if the new house has a hot tub!

I am a person that needs to have at least one article on. I feel completely vulnerable being totally naked in public. I am not really sure where that comes from but it is how I am. Now that article can be just a belt or my shoes but I always leave *something* on.

What is the reason that you want one? I think that is the most important question. It will increase the diameter of your pole quite a bit and you are unable to do spins with it.

Here are a few threads about them. AerialGypsy has a link to a blog post regarding hers at the end of the first link I have here.

I just cannot see the price. I have also recently gotten the chance to play on one at Midwest. I personally was not super impressed.

Hazlenut, you are lucky that you can use the stuff from work. Ethanol here is “controlled” so you ahve to log how much you take and for what purpose.

I want to say both Midwest and Detroit showcase have little comps but nothing along the lines of the big pole competitions.

To the best of my understanding XPole and Platinum Stages are now one in the same! I hate to say this but I personally would hold off if you can to see what comes out of this merger/buy out. I see great poles being designed in the near future!

When my shoulders act up I get in to see a massage therapist that specializes in deep tissue. Since I have been poling I have tried to get in at minimum every 6 weeks. My shoulders get so kinked up it is the only way I have any relief. You will find that many polers either get in for massage or chiro treatments routinely.

I have seen the plans for the stage poles (trust me, I looked into all of that prior to me buying a pole myself) and after having been on a few home made poles you are really better off with an attached one. Most of the stage pole designs on the web are made to be dance poles, not acrobatic poles. Also it is really hard to make the pole not move around a lot. XPoles and SSA’s actually lock into place. There is no easy way to do that with a home made stage pole. This company has the best prices for brass pole kits and I know of a few people that have used this set up (mostly clubs). http://www.markstaar.com/Brass-Dance-Pole-Kits/
This company has both brass and stainless pipe and the flanges that you would need: http://www.kegworks.com/bar-decor-furniture/dancer-poles
I know these are both US companies but you can get an idea of the parts that you need in order to build a decent one yourself.

This place has the same kits but their prices look lower: http://www.crowdcontrolstore.com/dancefitnesspolekit.aspx

I started my pole journey with S Factor, not in a studio but at home. Having a supportive community made my first steps into pole that much more special. I am still friends with many of those women to this day and most of them I have never met in person. That being said, I strongly urge you to get the S Factor videos. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE LOVE LOVE V’s lessons but there is a movement that is taught in the S Factor videos (even just the first one) that when used and practiced will help you get out of your head an move organically.

For me when I am feeling disconnected the best thing I can do is throw down the lights, turn up the music and just move however feels good to me. Playing with scents, costumes, fabrics, textures heightens the senses and gets me more in touch with how my body is moving through space. The more connected I feel to my body the sexier I feel. Even creating a small feminine space or feeding a part of you that is truly feminine can get you out of the funk. New hair color, new shoes, a cute bra and panty set, spending time on itunes finding new music…there is something out there that feeds that part of you that you have buried. Let her out into the sunlight and feed her.

When you start comparing prices you will end up almost the same out of pocket as you would for a used good pole. Joel’s original pole I think was painted galvanized steel and he had it attached on top and bottom. You can buy brass railing but you are looking at over $100 for an 8′ section. You can get stainless tail pipe (muffler) at street rod type shops but again you are looking at over $100 for an 8′ piece.

That bottom hand should not be bearing any weight but instead used to push your body away from the pole. Think or running the pole from the middle of the two cushy parts at the base of your hand down the middle finger. That straight line will give you proper alignment of the forearm. DO NOT twist the hand to try to get a cup grip. If you are going to grip at all it should be with thumb and pinky only….maybe a little bit from the ring finger. There are numerous threads on here regarding forearm issues and split grip. These are the best tips I can give.

The best exerciser that I have found for forearms is a powerball.

She is the owner of Aradia here in Raleigh. She is the main instructor for the higher level classes. So, yup, Dakota is my instructor! Bonnie Cozmo is (was, she is taking a break) the other upper level instructor and she is the one who holds the world record for ayesha hold. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXRXh92712U
