1.)  What occurs at a pole jam?

Typically just a bunch of polers getting together and having fun.  It is not a structured class and lots of times it is poeple showing other people moves or maybe giving a different perspective.   Basically just a chance to meet other polers that you may only know online.

2.)  Is it open to everyone, including people who are brand spankin new?

Open to EVERYONE.  Like I stated earlier, it is more of a social get together that centers around pole instead of eating or drinking.

3.)  How do I keep up-to-date on local jams?  I understand the February one is not happening and the next likely won't be until May or beyond.

Most will be posted here in the events section.  There are also postings on facebook and also http://midwestpoledancing.webs.com/

I bought the classic neon NSD Power Ball off ebay last year.  I believe that the majority of the NSD balls are 283 gm and 250 Hz.  They do have a few that are heavier and have a higher power motor but honestly these are perfect.  The RPM is really a bogus measurement because YOU are the one who controls how fast the ball spins.

There is a lot of really good information on the NSD site about the differences between the manufacturers and even all sorts of different exercises you can do with them.  (Basically the 2 manufacturers are NSD and DynaFlex).

Not to burst a bubble, but Mighty Grip sells ankle protectors with a vinyl coating and they are only $18.

I have been using a trick that the wonderful and incredibly sexy Amy suggested and that is to use electrical tape wrapped around the foot that gets beat up.  I just recently found that they also make it in clear.

When I was going to a studio I poled usually 1.5 hours there and maybe (and that is a HUGE maybe) on other session a week at home for maybe 30 minutes.  I know for me it is so much better if i am with other people…I tend to give up too easily when I am alone.  Last night was a good example….I intended to pole but once I hit it I was having issues with grip.  The things I wanted to work on required me to have a good grip, so I basically just worked on pretty-ing up some moves and then did my stretches for the splits.  All in all with warm up and stretching I worked out 45 minutes.

Outside of pole I try to do zumba at least 3 times a week.  If I get to pole once a week I am donig good.

I would strongly suggest that you get in touch with either David Owen (StellarMotion) or Stephanie Vera.

Their main website has no information on how to contact them with the exception of an email address.  They do offer a 12 month warranty on the pole though, which to me seems like a lengthy time frame.

If you have questions then e-mail the seller.  they should be willing to answer everything for you.

I did find them on craigslist and then was able to find:

"They are a discontinued item from Frontgate. I have been trying to search them. The item was their "umbrella bench sofa". The guy bought a few sets but has not needed them. They were marked $100, he said he got them for less than that and had them up on craigslist for half that price. They are 3" thick and the covers zip off and can be thrown in the wash."

I know  a couple of girls had a Frontgate pretty close to them and went and bought them at the store but I think they are only in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky.
