Sharing a pole works in the beginning because it is physically taxing and gives students a chance to rest. For an instructor it means double explanations.

Class size…I would say no more than 5-6 per class and that is even difficult because people progress at different levels and at times you can feel like you are spending more time with one student than the rest.

Crash mats are a good idea once you start inverting. I think along with this if you teach the students how to spot one another it gives them another level to poling and more respect for the art and dangers.

There was just a thread about this a little bit ago. You may find this helpful.

Shorts and sports bras….there really is no place like Walmart. The Danskin line is FAB and at max you will pay about $10 for a great sports bra and maybe $7 for shorts. There are also some cute side ties out by OP at Walmart right now that are maybe $5. I have also gotten some great undies that can be used as pole shorts at Target. Both places have really cute bikinis that can be used for poling.

On a side note, I saw the CUTEST pair of bikini bottoms at Kohls the other day. They were boy cut and in black and had a goldish belt and then a huge gold crochet butterfly on one of the cheeks. Then I saw the price tag…… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif

Don’t forget to look at places like Bealls and Hot Topic. It does not have to be exotic wear to actually be used for exotic wear!

Don’t get any that have the little hooks for the laces. Talk about weird bruising patterns!

My mom was down there for a while on the island. One too many hurricane seasons and she moved back up north!

We usually are down there every spring but the last 2 years it has not worked out. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif

There is another one or two here that are from your area…..I think one is in Pensacola and one might be in Destin. I was surprised when I saw the first studio open up down there and now it looks like there are 2!

    Welcome Becky!

My sis lives in Mary Esther and I have been visiting that area since the late 80’s.

Just talked to the bar manager and he wanted to know how I already knew about this because he just found out the other night. I told him he had NO IDEA how big of names they are getting in and the fact that the 3 of them are going to be in one place!

From what I was told this afternoon (none of this is totally set in stone):

Friday night performance at Score Bar, probably 9-10ish. I was told no cover.

Saturday Columbus is a zoo so they will just have a DJ and possibly just pole play. No performance scheduled.

Possibly a performance Sunday night. This is not set in stone.

Just so everyone is aware, not that I think anyone has an issue, Score is a gay bar and the Columbus Pride Festival is this weekend. This is a HUGE event in Columbus.

I also had to ask how this came about. I guess the owner decided to put up a pole a few months back and then they decided that for the festival they were going to get male pole dancers. I don’t think the owner has a CLUE what he just booked or that his club is going to be over run by the pole community!

Depending on how many are in your class you can maybe assign a person per class to bring say 3 or 4 songs. I know that S Factor has "class" and then they have "dance". At the end of each class is time for each and every one to dance to a song of their choice. Not really sure how they have it set up player wise, whether it needs to be on a cd or mp3 player.

When I was taking classes at Be I always had my ipod with me. Sometimes we would use studio music, sometimes Mindy had a new CD and sometimes I would just play my playlist. Most of the time it was just background music and not really used for any purpose. When I taught a few classes I had some low key music that I used for warm up and cool down and then just shuffled my playlist the rest of the time. I think I had about 200 songs on my pole list.

One thing that one of the S ladies did was to send her 3 songs and then she put together a 2 cd set for all who were involved. Maybe you could give your students a sheet and ask them to give you 5 songs they think would be good for class and then you could put together a playlist from that. If you really wanted to get fancy you could burn a copy for each one of them to have afterward.

I can’t remember, are you teaching series of classes or just single classes?

Also – the FUN POP is the one I use for parties or Intros or Jams because it’s safe. A little bit of something for everyone.

It’s always funny when "Stayin’ Alive" comes on…
I remember taking a few classes down at the S Studio in Houston and one of the songs that she had during warm up was Like A Virgin.

Jessie…also look into the itunes imixes that people have put together. There are some GREAT songs in there. I know Veruca has a few mixes in there. I have searched on pole, stripper and S Factor and greatly expanded my song selection.
