I think you are spot on. There are a few "better" clubs that have come into the area, mainly the flats, but once you get into the outskirts of downtown it is kinda scary. I think the only place I know of that bucks that trend is Crazy Horse Bedford, but it is part of a chain and lately that place has been DEAD.

Has anyone tried these from Old Navy? They look interesting and come in 5 colors:

Couple of comments on several posts.

I think the contempt for strippers may be a little misunderstanding. I think there is more contempt that people call us strippers because we pole. There is a really good example of that going against Alena Downs right now. I know she is not on this forum and many may not like her but she is one who I think has pushed this sport to the forefront and the crap she deals with on a regular basis is just jaw dropping.

Momma….too funny. The Chemgoddess nickname was given to me in college and I am #1….yes there is a #2.

Polergirl…there are a lot more upscale clubs in Columbus than here in Cleveland. There is a section of town close to where Momma lives that they have been trying to clean up for years that has some of the nastiest clubs and sex stores that you could imagine. Unfortunately it very easy for girls that work in some of these clubs to cross the line into drugs and prostitution (at one point in time they were even pushed….not sure if that is true any more). And in the nicer clubs it seems to be more about the perfect bodies and large chests and those girls that don’t have those looks have a hard time of it and it can really play on your ego.

There is a whole different mind set for those that can and do work in the clubs. I am not sure I could do it myself just because I have heard of wandering hands and nasty guys coming in. I don’t think my acting skills are all that great! Like I also said before, I give HUGE props to the girls that can make a living out of it. It is not an easy job.

There was a great interview that I read over 15 years ago in a magazine that really opened my eyes to the life. If any of you are ever curious also there is a great forum on stripperweb.

    Great work!

I need to get some more pictures up. I think I have made some progress but I am not sure unless I can compare.

I know quite a few personally so it is not really an issue for me. I think if a woman is strong enough to strip and not come out messed up then more power to her. I have heard some horror stories though, too. I think the ones who are able to make a living out of it have skills way beyond my imagination (and inner strength).

I will note though that the ones I do know do not do big tricks….a few simple things to grab attention and the rest is oozing sexuality.

Been there, done that, had my cervix frozen in a few spots (ouchie) and have not had any issues since. I would not wait 6 months though, I would have a retest now. There are 2 pap tests performed, one is a "quick test" and the other is a little more involved. The testing facilities are all not 100% accurate all the time either. Better to retest now to put your mind at ease.

Just to let you girls know…Karol is supposed to be in Pittsburgh on May 7-8th teaching workshops. Just found out and I am talking to the hubs about it. It is not on her site but I think it is supposed to be on the studio’s site by the end of the weekend.

Well then talk to your trainer(s) and let them ALL know that this is a goal.

I had a huge post and it went poof….

Have you ever watched Amy dance? For having no background she moves beautifully. For all of the bad things people have to say about S Factor she is proof positive of the beauty of that movement.

If you are dedicated to pole and that is a goal then you know the end result, you just need to figure out how to get there. Go back and watch Amber’s and Karol’s and Aleathea’s old videos and see how far they have come just in a year. I think this time last year Amber was struggling with her handsprings. I have seen amazing transformations of people when it comes to bodybuilding, this is no different.

    Amy is spot on.

I only aspire to be the best that I can be, whether it be in my daily life, my job, as a wife or on the pole. I am sure that I could be better at it if I devoted more time to it, however other things in my life would suffer. I am not willing to do that. I am sure that my house could be spotless too however I choose to live instead of spending all of my time cleaning.

If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
    Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

    1. Pole without shoes. Once you are comfortable with a move then try it with shoes on. No need to add the instability of heels into this from the get go.

    2. You can get Sheila Kelly’s S Factor book from CCPL. While a good portion of it is stretches there are some basic pole moves. It is kind of weird to read and figure out the moves though.

    3. Belly does not need to be exposed until you are doing inverts, and not even all inverts.

    4. Let the kids play on it but beware, they are fearless and will be able to bust out moves that you could not even imagine! If it is not in the way leave it up. It is way too easy to put off poling if you have to clean the area or put up and take the pole down each time.

VB, I have the same problem. Did you ever get the Flexibility book that was talked about on here? He has some really good shoulder exercises. There are some youtube videos that were made for volleyball that I found that were pretty good also…I will try to find them later when I get home and post the link for you.
