Veena, I am not the first to come up with that method. Honestly I do not remember even where I learned that as it may have been in a forum eons ago or from some person online or possibly even Pantera…..I honestly cannot remember. But it works, at least it did for me! The studio I go to now goes one step farther (in a higher level) and incorporates the squat but without holding onto the pole. That teaches not only the leg control but proper body balancing. Needless to say, I still have not mastered that one!

Bella!!!!
Sorry, can’t help you but I saw you were moving on FB. Best wishes to you on getting out of the hole.

Whoever told you this is clueless. Sorry to be so blunt but seriously?? Look at Veena. Look at the majority of the “big names”. I have thigh gap and I have been poling for years. Zoraya Judd is bowlegged and she ROCKS the pole!

Jenn, have you actually tried the SSA? Before spending that kind of money please find someone who has one and try it out first.

I love you Charley!
Dr Scholls used to make a deodorant foot powder that worked really well and during the summer I have been known to spray deodorant on my feet. My issue is more during the summer when I get dressed up and don’t wear hose.
The mix of salt and slush does not help either.

Pole climb is more leg than arms. I got my girls used to it by “mounting” the pole and then holding that leg position and practicing straightening the legs then going back to squatting several times in a row, never moving the foot position. It was not until they could demonstrate this that I move on with adding the pole hold and repositioning of the feet.

A few things that I always taught in my first classes were the walk, standing up, walking around the pole, becoming comfortable with the pole, half turn in front of the pole and step arounds. I also taught them how I instructed using outside and inside for my foot and hand placement. I usually also spent about 5 minutes talking about who I am and how I got into pole and how I got to where I was at that point.
One thing that I will warn about in a gym location is privacy. If there are glass walls between the class and the gym I can pretty much guarantee that your clients will feel self conscious. Although you state fitness studio and then state gym so I am not sure which one you will be teaching at.

I am trying really really really hard to make this.

2nd floor should not be an issue. Just be sure to check it especially during the change of seasons as temperature differences can affect both your ceiling and your floor and may cause the pole height to not be set properly.

When I get the sideways look I either respond that I am a chemist or I say…..”ummmm, take a good look….I don’t have the body to be a stripper.”
