Hsiang, don’t know if you know this but there is a pole studio in Fort Walton Beach. I know it is about an hour drive but if you are in need of a fix.

I stand corrected, there are now 2 pole places in FWB/Destin area. One is Tabu Dance and the other is Enigma Dance and Pole Fitness.

I am just under 5’8" all leg and no waist. I have had some "finding balance" issues but nothing more than that.

If you have ever danced on galvanized it SUCKS. There are all sorts of lil mynx all over craigslist for $100-$150. Put your money towards that and then sell it when you buy your X pole.

BTW, try searchtempest and type in stripper pole. Just watch for the cheap ones out there!

I have also danced on a home made one similar to this and it was not good for anything but spins (barely) and transitions. Forget any type of advanced moves.

Tomboy here, although I was a cheerleader for one season in 8th grade.

Can’t help you out a whole lot on this one but to offer support. I have my BS in Chemistry. A Masters at the time was just not worth it and there was no way I was going for a PhD. If you don’t think that you will have the same interests 5 years from now then pursuing a higher degree seems a waste of money, but on the other hand the job market right now is dismal at best and you may be better off saying in school.

I will say that the longer you are out the harder it is to go back. To even sit in training classes now puts me to sleep. Plus I have grown so accustomed to a way of life that going back would be a huge financial struggle.

Some times all you need to do is get it off your chest and the answers will come to you. Whatever your decision I wish you the best of luck.

You may want to check out Modelmayhem.com. On their browse page you can choose photographer and then your area. Many of the photographers on the site are more artistic. There are some racier photos there but you can see what their work is like.

I will agree with Sissy that there is something else there that is bothering him and he is using you poling as an excuse. There is nothing wrong with poling nor with a child seeing it. If anything it may make them more open minded when they get older. The two of you really need to talk, rationally and calmly, and try to find and resolve the problem.

I get major bruising on elbow grip, too….kinda looks like I have been playing with needles in a not so good way.

Can you caterpillar crawl? This is what got me comfortable with forearm grip. I still cannot do a proper forearm aysha (hips away from pole) but I can with elbow grip. For me it really is about pushing my hips away from the pole to find that balance point.

I have not been stretching like I hoped I would (I blame the holidays). I will post a pic in about another 30 days to see where I am.

I installed my pole 2 years ago…so 38. But barely still 38 as my b-day is in January.

I am also having the same bendiness issues.

I believe the video you are referring to is her Miss Pole Dance Australia video. She does 2 "drops", one at about 1:95 and the other at about 3:15. Many of her later routines also incorporate these moves.

I downloaded and use debugmode wax with the xvid video codec. Just started playing with it last weekend but it is pretty easy. I don’t have the settings that I use here but I do at home and will type up something once I get there. I am compressing video taken with my digital camera which tend to be pretty big. It took about 20 minutes for a 3 minute video to compress.

In my opinion Movie Maker is just one frustration after another. I tried doing stuff with that program about a year ago and got nowhere. the one above took me about 2 hours of playing around in to get the basics, plus it has all sorts of editing stuff you can do which I have yet to play with.
