Welcome!! There is talk about having a pole jam in the ATL area some time around xmas. Here is the thread.

Done from a gemini/scorpio it is not all that bad. Whichever leg is already hooked, place upper hand above the leg and pull yourself up. You can either drop your legs and then reposition yourself or you can push the hips forward to get the position.

I recently put foam mats under my pole and decided to try a few things last night. Needless to say I almost killed myself coming out of a straight edge because when I came down the foam gave and I tripped. Not a pleasant experience!

The powder coat is great at times, especially when learning new things because there is really good grip. I remember the first time I climbed my pole and slid down….not only did it squeal but I think I took off some skin! I have my pole up in my garage so I don’t have a lot of temperature control. In the winter it is not too bad because I have a heated garage and the humidity is pretty low. Summer it is almost impossible to do anything because of the heat and humidity. Temps over 75 is when I start to have issues. It is almost like sticking to vinyl seats when you are wearing shorts. I remember I was trying to learn the superman at the beginning of summer and kept getting my left thigh stuck on my pole during the flip over.
I guess I would liken it to using too much grip aid…..that feeling.

I am not sure if this is similar to the PS pole:
Bubble Pole. I have no idea on the cost. I will say that my powder coated ‘lil mynx can be horrible sometimes, especially when it is warm. I think once you have the full dynamics of a move down adjusting it for a different diameter or material grip is not all that difficult. I would not want to use this to learn on, though.

Empy, I was thinking about this exact thing while I was getting ready for work this morning and wondering if this was one of the little nuances of getting the "spin" out of this.

I tried this again tonight and my knee cap is just not really forgiving. I have the WORST bruise because I keep hitting it on the pole. My problem is that as soon as I turn my body my back hits the pole and I thud to a stop. And, yes, it is a thud. I WILL GET THIS!

Hey, I am a born and raised Browns fan. You all have NOTHING on me!

Try this link to it.
Empy, she has the video set to friends only or something along those lines so those that are not friends cannot view it. -
I can get all of the moves down I just cannot get the spin involved, but then again I was trying this at 9:30 last night near the end of my session. It seems as when I turn my body with my back to the pole I just kind of stop. I am also having "issues" with keeping my left leg straight….I instinctively want to bend both legs.

I love love love Oxygen magazine. Every month there are different workouts so you never get bored. Even on their site there are lots of really good training tidbits.
Oxygen Training
I am also an exercise TV junkie. I have free exercise on demand on my cable and they change up the videos just about every month. You can also download a ton of videos from their site for $2.99. Just found one that I used to like but they got rid of it on the air (it was called KBC-kickbox, booty, core and in 20 minutes I was ready to melt into a heap on the floor). Ooooo….just found my other favorite! Incredible Abs.
I know these are older but something like turbo jam or tae bo will help you build endurance along with tone. Each of those have 20 minute workouts that even the busiest person can fit into their day.

I agree with the above posts, you cannot execute any of the moves without the strength to caterpillar climb.
PLEASE use a crash pad or spotter (or both). My worst pole injury was me falling off the pole when I was learning this. I was so psyched that I did it about 3 times in a row….well by the last time my arms had fatigued and when I let me legs off the pole I came crashing down. Luckily I turned and fell on my shoulder or I probably would have ended up in the hospital.
What about working on headstands/handstands? I found that these helped me A LOT with the core strength and balance needed to get the straight edge.
Even though I have a full arsenal of "tricks" most of my poling is transitions and spins with a few inverts thrown in for dazzle.

Are you able to get a straight edge? I am one of the strange few that can get this but am still struggling with the ayesha.
I know there was a thread I think here about moves that wow and ones that don’t. Honestly I don’t know if a lot of people outside of pole would be wowed by the ayesha. A well executed reverse grab and even some artistic pole sits impress (to me at least). And I can still remember the first time I saw a caterpillar climb and thought it was the coolest thing on the planet!

I don’t think the discussion was about good vs bad, I thought it was more about getting correct information. We all get upset when people assume things just because we pole.
