I was always an “instigator” in Cleveland and would email my jam group with stuff we were going to work on or try or just gawk at. Since I left the Monday night lunacy has ceased but I still email them with new stuff every once in a while, so it was not posted publicly but in an email. I had also posted it to the NC group that I belong to now and Dakota Fox posted a video to the group last night. This has been fun! And, no, I cannot do an inverted split grip so this is out for me….at least for now.

I will be there to give you support! Trust me, when I walked in for the first time after not having been at that studio for all of my training it was nerve racking! I am still behind on many things due to my just getting to this studio so we can be newbies together! BTW, I cannot do a lot of things on both sides, cannot aerial shoulder mount, cannot handspring, etc etc etc. I will say though that I have seen huge differences in what I CAN do and what I have allowed myself to try. Circus climbs are still a bitch and probably always will be!

Pleaser and Ellie are probably the most worn just because they are the easiest to find (Funtasm is one of Pleaser’s lines). Tony, Highest Heel and Karo are 3 other lines I have heard of but are difficult to find. Most of my shoes are Pleasers just because they tend to fit me better than Ellie’s do.

I have a friend who is currently doing this on Etsy. You buy the shoes and she places the crystals. There are a few others on Etsy that do the same. Veena has a DIY site of FB and there are some links in there to people who have done this. I want to say there are a few who also do this for competition costumes, so there is definitely a market.

I think I may have seen this from a shoulder mount but not from in inverted V. There is going to be too much twisting and repositioning of the upper body to do it from a baseball grip (at least in my opinion).

If you are on the tall side I would not suggest an SSA.

On a side note, this was an interview with Sheila Kelley last year. She had both poles on stage during the interview. First off, notice all of the stuff they stuck under the SSA base to level it and make it so it does not slide. Second, look at the height out of the box of the poles, and lastly, look at the movement of each.

It looks like a box split entry into a one handed Oona split. I am sure it is something that she created.

    Exactly.

Also for someone who is looking for dance I have heard that Kelly Yvonne (did I spell that right?) Is amazing to work with.

For anyone who has never been to a Detroit Showcase, it really is a special place. I cannot tell you how many have walked in those doors disenchanted with pole in general and walked out with their passion renewed. It is a crazy, stupid, silly, amazing, emotional, inspiring weekend and I have been in tears from emotion and tears of laughter….I think during Layla’s performance last year I was in both! I hated for the weekend to end. There is a reason that “stars” come back year after year after year….it really is a magical weekend.

And yet another reason why I love you so much Charley. You and I have gotten into some very intense and intelligent conversations about pole and where things are going and things we do and don’t like and in the end we end up having drinks with no hard feelings. I love that we share this passion for pole and have a deep respect for each other and that alone surpasses any differences we may have.
