Be patient! A couple of weeks is not enough time to gain what it takes to hold yourself off the ground. If you look through here you will see that many people say that spins are NOT beginner moves. If you cannot hold your weight off the ground you will fall to the floor. If you do not understand the mechanics of how to shift your weight when you spin you will fall to the floor. If you do not understand how to grip and not grip at the same time you will either not spin or you will fall to the ground.
Veena offers 3 free days of lessons here on the site. Look at the conditioning lessons she has. Take a look around and read about all of the people that have had the exact same issue that you are having. Weight is NOT the issue, time and patience with yourself are.
And BTW….WELCOME!

I know this is older but I am posting in case someone searches and finds this. Did you be chance at some point tighten your pole so that the screws did not sit in the flat channels? This is a pretty common thing that gets overlooked in the directions. If you did then there is a good possibility that you crushed the threads.

Look around at the pictures and videos on here…..there are more “thick” people than what is represented in most competitions.

Check craigslist in your area but also familiarize yourself with what a real xpole looks like. Too many fakes out there.

MemberFebruary 17, 2015 at 11:28 am in reply to: Mind over matter: the brain alone can tone muscleSo my take on what the study shows….yes, indeed there is a link between muscle wasting and using our mind but it is also partly to do with us not exercising our mind to do those activities. Indeed “muscle memory”. This study has no proof that these people got stronger, it shows that they had less muscle wasting while immobilized. These are two extremely different concepts.

MemberFebruary 17, 2015 at 11:23 am in reply to: Mind over matter: the brain alone can tone muscleThe news article and the study state two very separate things (and why I HATE when journalists have no idea what they are reading when they write an article).
“In conclusion, the cortex as a determinant of strength/weakness has received limited attention. We used immobilization to induce weakness and impairments in VA, and used MI to activate the cortex during immobilization. We measured the SP duration by stimulating the brain during a contraction to provide an index of GABAB-mediated inhibition. Our findings most likely suggest that neurological mechanisms arising at the cortical level are a substantial contributor to disuse-induced muscle weakness, and that regular activation of the motor cortical regions via MI attenuates disuse-induced losses in strength and VA by maintaining normal levels of inhibition.”
Also, check out the data that they somehow derived this study from….it is a joke. (try imagining the line not being in these graphs and tell me what you see)

Sorry, I read stuff like this all the time. Not being a bitch, being a scientist.

From what I read in the first post (and excuse me if I mis-interpreted it) but she was more upset about her total nudity and saw it as vulgar and now she will not perform a move because of what she saw. Those are her own feelings (which she is completely entitled to), just as my feelings of not seeing the situation the same are completely valid.

I personally have been arrested for public indecency at a closed private invite only party at a bar and I was not even naked. The laws are very very messed up and it all depends on if the facility is already being watched or has complaints. In Ohio I can be arrested for dirty dancing with my husband if what I am doing “affronts” another person in the bar. Basically the city did not like the owner of the bar and did what they could to take his liquor license. I just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. What did I do? I pretty much lap danced a female friend of mine on top of the pool table.
That said, this is more of an exploration of your own feelings on sexuality and the naked body than anything else. For her it may have been a freedom of expression or hell, even a statement of announcing to the world that even at her age she is still sexy. I find no issues with what happened but that is because of my own personal views on things like this.

The move you are describing and showing is not a CKR but a crescent/dove. The crescent is typically not done with a ckr because the lock of the knee prevents you from getting the bend of the back.

My question I guess would be why her nudity upset you so much? She was obviously okay with it as well as other people in the audience.
As for your question about what is sexy, there have been numerous threads on here asking that exact same question and the answers are as varied as we are. Different people find different things sexy. For some the naked female form is sexy, to others it is more of a mind play and other still it is a shape or look or attitude. This is why strip clubs have women that look different, not everyone has the same thing that turns them on.
