The most important thing in Burlesque is to figure out what makes you feel sexy, and to HAVE FUN. Burlesque comes from the vaudeville tradition, so it has its origins in comedy. I teach Burlesque in Portland, OR, and the thing I emphasize most is to develop a persona, and to remember to have a sense of humor about yourself, sex, and life.

Coco! I had no idea you were on here! I’m Ellen, Freya’s friend from Poletential in NorCal! Nice to see you here!! I’m so excited to hear you use these methods too. xoxo

    Hi Ellen!

    yep, it’s me. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I’m a bit of a lurker, but with Cooley’s work I couldn’t help chiming in…

One of these days I’ll post some videos or something.

I hope I get to meet you in person some day!! I’ve heard great things about you and your studio from Freya!

    xoxo,

I’ve been using these techniques for a few years now, and find them incredible. I had torn my hamstring where it attaches to the pelvis a few years ago, coming down into a split and then a straddle from a pole climb. The noise it made as it tore was heartwrenching. I thought my work on the pole was over–it felt like my leg was hanging loose from the hip socket. Shortly afterward, I discovered this book, and after the initial healing phase, supervised by my doctor and physical therapist, I employed the techniques. It took a long time to get back to the level of flexibility I was accustomed to pre-injury, but now I am very pleased. My hammie still bothers me sometimes, but when I go back to my resistance flexibility work it quickly recovers. Freya, who co-owns Brassy Butterfly in Portland with me, can attest to all this. I highly recommend the book and the method. I use it with my students all the time and see incredible results, especially with girls who have had injuries or just a lifetime of inflexibility. I am grateful to Bob Cooley, the author, for sharing his insights and techniques with us.
