So you submit your video but that doesn’t automatically get you to the finals? Everyone who submits has to do a preliminary judging once you get there and that determines who’s in the finals? So you could put together a great competition routine but maybe not even get to perform it if prelims don’t go well. that would be crushing.

In the pic I see her hand is thumbs down. I like to do this move with my bottom hand a little closer to my bum and thumbs up kinda like a wrist sit. It also helps me to make sure I have pole contact right underneath my butt cheek on the thigh that’s extended (left). In the pic looks like she’s just opposite. She has major contact on the top of the right thigh. I love this move though especially when it slowly spins just a bit. Good Luck!

That is just ridiculous. I’m sending a nasty email now. Very well stated email englann86. Some of their commercials i agree are a bit much so for them to think that silhouette is provacative is so close-minded. I’ve had my share with my studio opening a few years ago and closed-minded people and I’m fed up. Not that everybody has to conform immediately but don’t shoot us down at every turn. An M&M? please. I don’t even eat the things but I would have gotten an image imprinted as a gift. Great idea. Didn’t even know they did that. Wouldn’t do it to save the world now. Kiss our tight and toned butts M&Ms. Kick Rocks!!

I finally got this last night https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif It’s not perfect but I did get that leg straight and was able to hold my back foot for a bit. Did it twice. I was surprised when I got it the 1st time and didn’t have a camera out. I’m so excited! I got into it from an invert, scorpio then dropped my scorpio leg as if I was going into a hip hold. From the semi-hip hold (if that makes any sense) It’s easier to reach behind and grab the pole and extend. In the hip hold you have that much needed contact with your torso (like polegrrrl said) so that for me made it easier to reach around. Also I made sure to keep the extended leg in the crook of my elbow which allowed me to really get a good grip on the pole. It does hurt like huueellll on top of that thigh and I’ve got the bruise to prove it but nailing the move was so worth it. Turning your body out and tilting back in a sense relieves some of the weight you have bearing down on that arm that’s holding your extended leg which most people have a problem with. It usually brings you down when you try to take it off the pole lol and very quick as I found out. Good Luck ladies!!

I always tell my students "you have good foundation so if you go to another pole studio and take a class, don’t forget that foundation. If they tell you to do a move that you know bio-mechanically isn’t correct or they don’t set you up properly (shoulders down, neutral wrist etc..) or it just feels plain wrong then don’t do it. Ask for more clarification or modification for your level. You should know your strength and what you can safely and you’re HERE so you know to progress slowly and not rush to do a move you may not be ready for. If you’re in a class where they’re not stressing safety or doing something you think may be more detrimental or potentially cause an accident as you saw the danger with her holding your hand, tread lightly. You knew this was a recipe for disaster if you fell forward and she had your hand glued to the pole. Just respectfully tell her you’re not comfortable with her "spotting" you that way. It’s your money honey https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif I like to spot for the superman around the waist as with pretty much everything so if anything goes awry then the student can always abandon the move in a pike position catching with both hands and feet on floor as I’m holding their center so they can balance and catch themselves if need be. Sorry for writing the book lol BE SAFE IN CLASS!!

I find this weird too. Maybe they were alluding to 10 pole as too many in a class? and maybe questioning whether that’s to many to safely keep an eye on. I’ve heard or read that somewhere. Just trying to see it a different way and how it could be spun. We have 11 poles and cap at 10 and I do same as you Charley make my way around spotting, giving pointers, and correcting technique. While I’m working the room others can practice whatever it is we’re doing at the time then we all go as a group a few times. I have found if nothing else people want their own pole in class. My folks do not like to share. They look at me with serious side-eye https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif if they see a bunch of girls in the lobby and make a beeline for their pole to make sure they get one.

So sorry to hear https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif . Unfortunately with this condition any excercise MUST be closely monitored and other than yoga sometimes prohibited. The condition itself is usually hereditary but can be caused by certain meds and illnesses. Take this very seriously as I’m sure you are. Until your physician decides what meds to put you on to treat or whether you’re gonna need surgical intervention-kinda like an internal pacemaker-REST. I know you love pole, we all do but heed your dr’s advice. Even a slow day on the pole can raise your heart rate enough to make you faint. Again I’m so sorry you have to go through this. Don’t risk poling right now though! Your in my prayers, poletrickster *big hug smilie*

I am still undecided about what workshop I’m going to do. Will go with either Sally Ann or Estee. I’m definitely doing the pole jam.I’ve booked my flight but not my hotel yet though I know I’m staying at the Gaylord. Right now I have no roomies but 2 of my students are THINKING of going, that’s a big maybe.
