If not, find one that works better with student’s various levels. At the studio I go to, despite the fact that we are all in class together, moves are adjusted according to ability. For example, if a student can’t do an advanced version of a back hook spin, they will continue to work on the beginner version, while other students who can do the advanced version will do the advanced version. That being said, the student who can only do the beginner version is NEVER made to feel bad. That’s what I LOVE about the studio where I attend. There are no DIVAS. We all encourage each other. ~~~ Also, continue to take lessons at StudioVeena.com. I love the lessons that are offered here as an addition to my in studio pole classes.

I’m only on Facebook because I’m an author and I have a group and I run Facebook ads. If it weren’t for that, I’d leave Facebook. ~~~~ Good for you guys! You don’t need Facebook. You’ve built a strong community right here on this forum.

I use an Excel spread sheet. I have my song and then I divide the song in sections. Pole moves I like are divided into the sections. ~~~ And to chime in on Veena’s lessons, do whatever you can to get back into them. I take pole dancing lessons at a physical studio, but Veena’s lessons are a great supplement.

Feeling meh about in studio progressI agree with everyone that it really sucks when you feel like you’re not making progress. I supplement my studio training with Veena’s online lessons. (Her front splints routine, for example, is awesome.) I also belong to another site that offers pole dance lessons. I have a pole at home, and I just practice as much as I can.

Really… is this what we’re doing? And . . . you’re insinuating that my opinion is not welcome because it doesn’t match with everyone else’s and, therefore, hinders the discussion. If you’re genuinely not interested in opposing views, you should have said so when you started this thread. You’re either for a discussion that welcomes all points of view, or you’re not. You can’t have it both ways.

So, I ABSOLUTELY believe that you and others have the right to care and to call it out, and I have the right not to care and to state my reasons why. (And if dancers are reading this who are afraid to state that an opinion that is not shared by the majority here, I understand. I’ve always been fearless and outspoken, and not everyone is.)

MemberApril 1, 2018 at 2:53 am in reply to: Black Face in Pole? Really… is this what we’re doing?I’m a BLACK pole dancer who loves my black skin. It’s healthy, and at 55 I have few wrinkles. ~~~ That pole dancer painted her face brown to dress up like Whoopi Goldberg in “Sister Act.” That’s considered “offensive.” But if I were to dress up like a WHITE PERSON, that’s NOT offensive? That’s okay to all of you, right? I want you to think about that. ~~~ I was not offended by what that dancer did, and don’t assume ALL black dancers would be offended. (Some of us are independent thinkers.) I don’t know that dancer, but I don’t believe that dancer had any nefarious motives to her costume. I think she was just wearing a costume, and that’s it, particularly since I’m assuming she’s not even American. (I’ve traveled all over the world. Not every culture is thinking the way Americans think.) But let’s say she did have nefarious motives. I’M NOT A VICTIM. I don’t CARE who’s a racist and who is not. Her being a racist or her not being a racist doesn’t have a DAMN THING to do with the way I feel about myself as a proud black woman.

MemberMarch 28, 2018 at 2:20 pm in reply to: Competition woes, needing some encouragementI’ve responded to you earlier in this thread, and I was anything but unsupportive. I’m not unsupportive. I’m an honest person, and I was encouraging you to try again in the future. I’m sorry you took my honesty the wrong way.

MemberMarch 20, 2018 at 2:31 pm in reply to: Competition woes, needing some encouragementI can relate to both of you ladies. I’m 55; most of the women in my pole classes are significantly younger than me. I’m also the kind of person who wants to get on with it. I can chatter and be friendly, but when I come to class, I’m ready to get on with it. That’s just my Type-A personality. ~~~ I’ve been on stage before, and I’m currently practicing for an upcoming competition. Ptkells3642, if I were you, I would skip those practice sessions. It doesn’t matter that they are part of the money that you paid. You deserve to nurture your mind and spirit, not just your body. Good luck with everything!

Terrific! Give yourself a chance to heal and try to remember that the healing process is only temporary.

I see that this is a very old thread. However, for me, drinking lots of water, running and eating right reduces my cellulite almost 100 percent.
