I did call, and they were very unhelpful.  So I'm turning to Veeners for help!

Thanks!  Yeah, I have noticed the True Grip is pretty different from a normal handspring.  I have to get into it completely differently.  Always something new to learn 🙂

If you ever want a video, I can try to remember to take one the next time I'm at the studio.

The Aerial Pirouette can be a bit tricky.  Kate does it very clearly.  To do it, I hold myself out from the pole in a split grip hold.  If my right hand is high, I'm going to turn to my left.  I do this by first scissoring my left leg in front of my right, then letting go with my left hand as my body comes out of the scissors and back to the left.  Since only the right hand is holding, the body turns around to the left.  If you get enough momentum in the scissors kick, you can spin all the way around so that the legs grip the pole in a pole sit (or sort-of a pole sit, if you're less flexible like me).  Usually, once my legs are gripped into the sit, I drop my right hand off the pole and do a little bit of a drop, but you could stay in the sit and go into another move from there.

My biggest tip is don't drop the hand holding onto the pole until you feel your legs grip!  Make sure you have that twist and grab before dropping anything else.  You can smooth it out from there over time.

If you mean the spin to sit, I call it an Aerial Pirouette to bomb or pole sit.  I believe after that she did the Jenyne Tumble.

This is unfortunately one of those moves that I got for a while….and then couldn't get back!  I definitely remember pushing hard with the bottom foot.  I think recently I just haven't been pushing the hips forward enough.  Thank you ladies for your help!

Thanks!  If you post a video I'd definitely appreciate it.

I have gotten this move a few times, and it probably was a warm pole.  When I try it right away, I slide right down.

For a while I was doing flexibility training 2-3 times a week toward the splits.  I used a variety of props, such as a foam roller, yoga blocks, straps, etc.  I watched lessons, YouTube videos, etc. and I worked what new stretches I learned into my routine as I found them.  It definitely helped get me more flexible, but I felt like I plateaued after a while.

As I started getting more into yoga, I let my flexibility training drop.  However, yoga has done way more for me in a short amount of time than my specific training ever did!  I think it's because I stopped focusing on getting flexible, and just started enjoying the calmness and focus of yoga.  Focusing on deep breathing definitely helped my stretching.  You might try it out and see if you like it!  I'd recommend Rodney Yee's DVDs if you do need a start.

There's a brief clip of Gaga on a pole at the end of You and I.  I've heard that she used to pole dance, but never have found more than rumors.

This is the only move I've fallen out of, because I didn't compensate and move my body closer to the pole.  Be very careful!  I agree with Cocoa0, get very comfortable with the straight edge/candlestick first.

No, that makes sense.  Thank you!

I'm not quite sure what you mean.  Do you mean lifting to the side initially?  Or when I start to try to flip?

Tried out the Viwa and posted the video!  It's a lot more secure than I would have expected, especially when you reach overhead and push out.  But I still don't feel ready to unhook the top foot 🙂  I like it either way though, and it's different to use the outside of the knee area to grip.

@Legend, I just posted a video of one of my first tries, using the split grip like you did in the first video you posted.  It doesn't seem that bad, but I feel like your hips got much farther to the other side of the pole than mine are.  Do you have any tips?

Also, please excuse me if you hear my sniffling or snorting in the video 🙂  It's a sick day!
