I have purchased that pole from amazon a while back to save money when I wanted to get a 45 mm. I already had an xpert xpole in a 50mm. That pole from amazon is a big piece of garbage. It is really built cheap and it bows, it comes unloose when on static, it fell with me on it, etc.. It is way inferior to my xpole. It now sits in my spare bedroom. I would save your money and get a better pole like lil minx or xpole etc.

I have all of her dvd’s and I think it is a lack of strength for the move your talking about. Keep practicing, I notice it gets easier the more you do it for obvious reasons. Some of the stuff is pretty hard to do for me anyways.. The one were you sit on your heels and lift your knees up…That one is a doozy for me lol!

I just posted this on fb and pretty much said this is pole dancing and this can be artistic, graceful, and NOT DIRTY. Most people are ignorant and know not of what they speak. Most people assume stripper or this is dirty and morally wrong.. It’s time that perception changes and people realize that if you choose to view something a certain way that that’s your perception and not necessarily what it really is. Don’t get me wrong, I love the sexy but not everyone does and this sport needs recognition for what it is and can be, not some idealistic perceptions of ignorance.

I recently had to take a break for a few months to. It was a little difficult getting right back in to the swing of things. I make a bucket list of all the pole things I would like to accomplish and use that for motivation. I will watch pole dancing videos and that inspires me because the pro’s didn’t get there overnight and it makes me go practice what i can do, and eventually you nail it! I strive to be just as good as them and good enough to compete, even though I don’t want to compete. It helps keep me motivated because i want it so bad. On off days where im not feeling it, i just do yoga type stuff, floorwork, gymnastics, stretching etc… you have to find something in it that is your driving force and it can change time to time like ” i am determined to nail the CAR or brass monkey etc..within a certain amount of time” and do them or whatever it is you want to work on until you master it 🙂 could be a floorwork piece or increase in flexibility or conditioning… Sometimes when you come back from a break from anything, the usual flow of things aren’t the same and it can almost seem overwhelming. Figure out your best plan of action, start small, focus on one thing first ( a move, fluidity, etc..) until its up to your par and then move to the next until you get back in the swing of things. My other driving force is being healthy and having a nice toned body. Pole and it’s relatives (aerial stuff) is the only thing that has hooked me in. I hated going to the gym and would follow a plan and switch it up but i never got results like I do now and it was soooooo boring. I think pole is the greatest thing ever!!! Those are some of my motivations. Oh and who doesn’t want to be able to rock the pole and be a sexy mamma 🙂 lol

Yay! Congrats 🙂 Just make sure you be kind to your body and not over do yourself which I should take my own advice. Just have fun with it and go with the flow of your body 🙂 I recommend veena’s lessons if you don’t have them. She teaches proper technique and form and it is great to have. All you really need is determination, consistency, and patience. Most of all have fun! I recommend recording yourself even if you don’t post them. It helps to see your own progress and no where you want to improve with yourself. Good luck and welcome to POLE! 🙂

I use dry hands and i-tac regular strength. I like dry hands better then itac but sometimes it’s a hit or miss if it works for me. I-tac sometimes makes me more slippy. I also have the gloves and use them sometimes for practicing pole holds or strength training but not for dancing. Just thought I would mention my experience.

I’ve had my xpole TG since March 2013 and it is also slippery. IT feels like it sweats. Some days are better then others but it is generally to slippy for my liking. I’ll wipe it down and myself and 15 seconds later it’s like it has condensation but not like a glass of ice water if you know what I mean. I don’t think it’s the humidity in the room but probably has something to do with it. It’s hard to put together a routine or dance through a whole song when u have to wipe it down constantly.

I agree! I had pulled some muscles in the past but that was my fault from not resting and using proper form. No one had taught me that until I found studioveena. I had attended a six week beginner series and 2 spin classes after poling for about a month or two (which was all YouTube learning). The studio was ok and they did talk about safety first but there was not really any instructions or feedback on proper form and mechanics. It was like you said about paid pole play. They were knowledgeable about pole but it seemed like they lacked knowledge about the body that any type of fitness instructor should know. YouTube had some good videos like emotioncatcher’s and a few others but there are a lot of horrible ones to that should start out as “Don’t try this at home” lol. But as a newbie at the time, I didn’t know until I wised up with the veena lessons and realized I was setting myself up for injury. I’m sure others do the same and get put off of pole and give up because of preventable injuries.

So thank you Veena and webby! You guys are doing something really great and buying your lessons, and just the community on here, it’s well worth the investment and you save money over a studio anyways. Even those that go to a studio, this is a great addition and supplement to in person classes. I got my cousin and her daughter into pole and they love it! I had them sign up for a free account and she bought the lessons and the pole 🙂 I love how you break things down and explain everything. The 30 day challenge and monthly challenges are fun to! Anyways, not trying to write a novel but thanks again!

I agree with saphyre, I have been poling for almost a year and at first I would get blisters, 9 on one hand at the same time :0! I quit getting blisters and now have 3 calluses that are pretty much permanent lol. I took a 2 month break and my first day back my callus came back immediately. Keep them moisturized and if it starts to open, take a few days off and work on floor work or something because it hurts when they rip open.

Most replies include one thing or another for me. I really want to work on flow and overall performance. I really want to be bendy and flexy. Twisted grip dead lift and twisted grip air walk would be awesome. Getting closer!
