Ive been poling since Feb of this year and some things came easier to me because i have always had good upper body strength but horrible leg strength and not very good flexibility. I could barely touch my toes and then for only a second or two but now i can interlace my fingers behind my feet! Now, my legs are getting a lot better, my whole body is changing, and I feel amazing! I was too headstrong and started jumping right into things i shouldn't have tried and not warming up properly and I hurt myself. My trapezious (bad spelling?) is getting better from being pulled, my hips got messed up and it hurt to just push in my e-brake, and I got tennis elbow. I realized i was moving to fast and trying things my body wasnt ready for, I didnt listen to it! Now I warm up better and take it a little easier and my body has thanked me! I can't really give advice because im a newb still but be patient, trying to do things too fast will only set you back. And like previous posters, everyone learns at a different pace, and you'll eventually get the strength and muscle memory to do the things you want. I also practice body rolls, floorwork, etc..I have no dance background but practicing that kind of stuff def helps fluidity, conditioning, and flexibility which will help you with looking good on the pole 🙂  Def record yourself if you can, it has helped me a lot!! I think…. lol

I love what pole has done for my body. I wasn't overweight but i had a poochy stomach and basically no muscle definition anywhere except my arms lol. I used to be in gymnastics and pretty flexible when i was a kid. I quit being active like that when i was a teen and then i got injured later and couldnt really work out for 5 years. Then i started working out at the gym about 4 years ago 4-5 times a week for like 2 hours at a time for about 11 months and i got bored of that and got lazy again lol. Ive always wanted to do pole but never got around to getting one until jan of this year and didnt start using it until around feb. In 4 months, pole has given me a great body, confidence, increased sex drive, better mood, and a healthier lifestyle. No gym has ever done those for me, even the great body part Lol. Im always saying "look what i can do" (like a little kid) to my husband and close friends and family when they come over, when i learn new pole moves, get deeper into stretches, and yoga poses lol

Are you talking about flipping all the way over? Like back on the ground? If so i would like to learn this as well! Or do you mean flip up into the inverted crucifix?

I fell out of the wrist sit once, done it a bunch of times and was showing someone and as soon as i leaned back, my upper hand slipped off and i fell backwards on my pretty much cement floor.. I don't know how i landed but i didn't hurt myself (thank god), it didn't even hurt and no bruises. I wish I would have caught it on camera so i can see how cat landed out of that one… I was over half way up to! Just goes to show that no matter how comfortable you are, always be aware that anything can happen! lol  I'll do the inverted crucifix but i haven't done the wrist sit since lol. Now i have something to do….  🙂

I need a crash mat too, but the ones ive seen are like 2-300 bucks and ? I know its worth it but i can't afford it right now. Is there anything good enough to use thats cheaper, like a foam mattress or something? would it be safe if you were lower on the pole? Ive tried pillows but not comfortable with that either…My floor is like cement to 🙁

I also have hip issues and it hurts to lift my legs up or out, especially trying to do fan kicks. I second the illiopsoas muscle, it could also be bursitis. My hips also pop when i straighten them out or try to lift them. Its so frustrating and annoying. Ive been doing acupuncture and stretching for it which is helping until I try to do something and it gets aggravated all over again. My knees pop, shoulders pop when doing push ups, etc.. I feel like im 70 lol. I'm ready to go to a chiropractor and physical therapy.. If you have pain, you need to rest or it will get worse , trust me..I had the same problems with my right hip and lower back in the army and it took me 9 years to start working out again..Now its the other side!

I like Leigh Anne, Cleo, and Alethea. I love the sensuality Leigh Anne gives, it looks so sexy! lol. I love poling to rock and Cleo does an amazing job! Alethea is just sexy and very skilled.
