I like hanging leg raises in the gym for lower abs. I think they are helping me do better choppers and air inverts!
Even if you can only do a few at a time – I think the motion of lifting your legs by curling your pelvis upwards and inwards (keeping shoulders depressed to avoid injury) is really good for choppers and shoulder mounts too!you can start with keeping your knees bent, and progress to straight eventually! -
My dom hand is on top for both moves. Although I’m trying to do them both on both sides – much work to go!!
My tip for the TG – I only just got this one recently and it was the best feeling – is to position your hands where they need to be, and keep trying to "prance" up there with the twisting motion – eventually your body will acknowledge what you are trying to do and let you!! In the last moments I find myself pulling with my upper hand and pushing with my lower to finally get control – sometimes the lower arm slightly bends as it takes the load but you’ve got to straighten it – you should be able to as it will help to bring your body into final position!
If progress seems slow, try lowering your grip down the pole so you are starting with your body more parallel to the floor – then when you have success with that, you can try it each time with your hands higher and higher!!
I love watching fleur’s TG videos – she has a new one on here I think – most deffo got some visual tips off her!
Good luck!!

Oh I’m so sorry to hear that. Poor, poor guy.
Well he left me with an amazing memory anyway… i *love* to watch those videos. They remind me that, as daffy duck says.. "it is to laugh" – although I really mean it!!
RIP Nils

Yeh I was reading the comments and it appears that he died. I googled it and there seems to be news reports about an accident he was in. But there is a Facebook page in his name?? So I wasn’t sure.
If it’s true.. poor guy. He’s great!
For feeling down.. laughter is the best medicine!

I know – I really want one. A stable, portable, free-standing pole with no stage is like the final frontier (geeky star trek reference, sorry)!! but the price being high makes it a risky investment!
When I put my X-stage on grass before and it wobbled more than usual. I wish that the R-pole video had been filmed on an indoor surface to eliminate that factor.
PoleDanceABCs, Platinum Stages appear to be launching a stage-free portable pole soon too. Described in this press release:
http://www.platinumstages.com/extreme.html
Says the base weighs 40lbs. 40lbs!! That’s kinda light. Will be interesting to see that one in action.

The latest video from the R-Pole people:

Does the base seem as stable as an X-stage? It’s hard to tell when it’s on the grass.

I was a really crap beginner pole dancer!! The worst ever!!
I started taking private lessons with a girl I literally made friends with at an open night in the teacher’s studio. She was flawless – it was like she was born spinning around a pole! I was so crap in comparison – it took me weeks to do a fireman spin!! Whereas she just hopped on first time! Instead of discouraging me.. it made me ANGRY!! I’m just a bit weird. I was like " I *have* to get this!! It’s not fair!!
Two years later, and she didn’t keep up the dancing – but I did! I’ve been an instructor at one point – it was a great feeling when beginner students of mine would say "you make it look so easy!!" And I just have to laugh!! It was never easy for me!
You get there in the end!! If I can, you certainly can!!! Keep it up!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif

Wow – now I feel bad sitting here with my 16oz americano!

When you say freaky it reminds me of my foot cramp! When I get mine – only in one foot – my toes all curl over to one side (outwards from big toe) I flex my foot and extend my toes to get rid of it but it usually comes back a few times in one sitting and if this starts when I’m in the gym I’ll have to quit for the day – it’s weird sometimes I’ll be working on upper body and I get this stupid cramp in my toes!! I have flat-ish feet and I wear orthotics for running. But! I *never* wear heels – maybe twice a year – so I know that’s not causing it!
I’d go to a chiropodist/podiatrist to have your arches checked!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I like the idea of having a pole in the garden!!!
But here in Ireland we could really test that rust-proof claim! It rains about 367 days of the year!! But I suppose that’s true of many parts of the UK too, where the pole was made I see.
The different attachments sound cool though – a Chinese-style rubberized pole attachment!! (They said that was coming next..) In the garden!!! Yay!!
But! I’ll have to save my pennies!!

I’ve only been around a while – but this site is my new addiction! I *love* it here! Everybody is supportive and encouraging – there is no meanness!! I’m terrified of video cameras, so I think you all are brilliant for the videos you make! They are inspirational, and great for others to learn from! I’m working up the courage to join in.. soon! soon!
