    I’ve never had to do stage make-up, but I wear my regular make-up when I referee, and it has to hold up to 90 minutes of running & sweating. Because I’m outdoors, the first thing that goes on is sunscreen! On top of that, I wear Jane Iredale mineral foundation; moisture sets it! I use the translucent colorless matte for games, for everyday I wear a color. I found that Maybelline eyeliner stays on really well, and the Maybelline waterproof mascara as well.
    I love Revlon’s new long-wear lipstick, not as drying as most long-wear, or get flaky. And since I’m working with a whistle, it’s well-tested https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
    Those are just basics, I don’t do anything exciting with the eyeshadow, very neutral, also, Jane Iredale (neutral palette) but it stays.

    I also like using lavender and arnica oil when massgIng for it’s healing properties

    Thanks for mentioning these things, I have them on hand, and I should get into the habit of applying right after I clean my pole!

    On the bendy chat, David (StellarMotion) said not to train every day … so on alternate days you would do your generic stretches to maintain flexibility, on other days to train to increase your stretching. Also keep in mind that if you are poling you are developing muscle, and the tightness may come from the previous day’s workout.

    OK…on second thought. I am backing out of this topic as it is turning into something different from what I started and that is very disappointing to me.

    Anyone who knows me or even knows OF me knows that I am fair, ethical, and honest. I’m not going to get dragged into something I don’t care for, so I’ve made my point and anyone who READS what I wrote will see that.

    You raised a valid point.
    What we see these days of TV audiences voting on "talent shows" is very much about "voting early & voting often", and this has become such a pervasive approach that no one even considers that validity of it. And that is a sad statement on a democratic society.

    Beyond that, we individually have to cope with our own excitement, and bias, and resultant enthusiasm for some one with whom we may have established a relationship. That probably won’t change, but we certainly need to temper that with the ethics of voting.

    This was an experiment on the part of the hosting organization, and it will be interesting to hear how they felt about their experiment when the final decision is made. In other competitions, organizers were accused of favoritism, and in this one the organizers tried introducing some element of democracy, and that has created controversy.
    It’s still a relatively new sport, so there’s a lot of learning for all. What I have observed is people trying to do their best, with the best of intentions, and the sport is growing by leap and bounds and spins! We look at Olympic figure-skating, and hear the accusations of favoritism, nationalism, and cheating judges!!!

    This was a worthwhile experiment, this is a worthwhile thread, and we’ve all had something to learn from it.

    I would love to see more one piece poling outfits, made with crotch coverage and open sides, I have a swimming suit like that but it has studs on it, so I don’t wear it much for pole.

    Yeah, that’s especially important for those of use who are a little older, and those who’ve had abdominal surgery. My abs are nice and taught now, but the skin isn’t fitting as well as it used to, and with body rolls and undulations …. eeeek … you don’t want to know. I just need something down the middle, open sides, like the suit Veena described, but a lot of those have hardware that I think would scratch the pole.

    My understanding is that the hand is under the body in plank position, the same side as the leg that is up the pole. In your case, right leg and right arm are extended.

    From either gemini or scorpio you can just grab the pole and put yourself into a V and come down, or you can bring both legs up into the invert and dismount whatever way works best for you.

    You are the same age as my son and he developed psoriasis in his early twenties, so I don’t know if it’s the same thing.

    Are you sure it’s not an allergy to the metal?
    Don’t be embarrassed, be concnerned! Definitely get medical treatment, and don’t stop until the doctors have an answer for you — not because it keeps you from poling, but because it’s not normal, and came on suddenly. It could be a symptom of something more serious.

    Keep us posted.

    I’ll miss you, and I need to miss Bendy Buddies again tomorrow: I’m having a PDT on hands (and face) for the skin cancers, so I’ll be crispy and drugged.
    Thursdays keep getting occupied for me, so perhaps there are others for whom a better day/time would be helpful? no reason we can’t have more than one!
    Thank you so much for organizing this in the first place, I’ve learned tremendously from all the flexperts who have shared their time and knowledge so generously! and who can forget the night Sissy went vajayjay-walking? priceless!

    I still think we should approach them for sponsorship for pole events, because they are the vanguard of demonstrating the pole dancing is as wholesome as M&Ms!

    Maybe that should be the September Challenge? a dance for the next Ms. Green commercial!

    I like have my "crash" mat for learning new tricks.
    First I borrowed the dog pillow, I bean bag chair is another good choice.
    Then I found a folding exercise mat at Target ($30) which is great as an exercise mat (my bony ass needs two yoga mats) and I can fold it to be a good crash mat, but I don’t always end up positioned over the mat.
    As I’m working toward more advanced tricks, i would like to get a real one, for practicing those things for the first time.
    I also agree with Charly that it’s important to learn how to control a fall. My first real fall I was outta luck, there was no way to catch myself headed face down into the floor, but I did manage to break the fall with hands/arms, and didn’t hurt myself. From the stunned, ashen looks on the rest of the class, I thought for sure any moment there’d be searing pain and gushing blood, but I was really fine! So I got back on the pole, didn’t want to lose my nerve, and the instructor recommended using shoes for traction, but when I got down to the floor one fell off and hit me in the forehead.
    Oddly, I was the only one laughing.

    Since then I’ve learned when I don’t really have the grip, or the balance, and let myself into a controlled descent before I totally fall. I’ve been wanting to try bow & arrow, but was definitely going to attempt for the first time without a spotter, so I did that at a studio’s open house night. I have attended classes in July and August because of hand surgery that would have meant missing half the classes, but I was able to practice at home during part of this time.
    Also, now I’m finding it hard to get advanced training at a local studio, so I’ve been using Veena’s lessons.
    Some things, like the Superman (or Dove) fall, I would not attempt without benefit of a mat below me! for what I’m doing now, my folding mat is sufficient, but Santa knows what’s on my list!
