I had my first C-sect after 19 hours of labor. They couldn’t get my son out. We both almost died. The second one was elective because after the first, I felt I had done my bit at the whole birthing /motherhood thing. Love my kids, most definitely, but the C-sections did damage to both my physical and mental shape. Fast forward to the age of 52…. that’s when I started Pole. I don’t know that I ever would be able to do some of the tricks a lot of you gals can do, and while that is incentive to keep pushing, the actual Poling and being with other women that have varying abilities, always empowered me, and made me feel… even with a messed up scarred abdomen, that I was strong and had some of my sh!# together. It made me feel sexy and confident, because Pole is hard and most shy away from it. I guess I’m saying that I think you will be OK, because it will be Your journey. And truthfully, no matter where you are on the ‘scale’, yours, or what you suppose others think, you’re still a Pole Diva… and by default, Pole Divas’ ROCK! P.S. I’m 60 now, and I still Pole.

I’m not sure what ‘flossing’ is, but when I had tendonitis in my left elbow, I went for therapy which included ultrasound, stretching and improving range of motion. I used voltaren, a topical analgesic, ice and massaged across the muscle fibers to break up any adhesions in the area. It took time and rest and diligence in doing the excersizes on my own time, but I was successful in returning to doing moves. Hope this helps.

I don’t know if this is an issue for you, or not, but as I recall, looking up and really squeezing my elbows together helped me get more consistent results.

one hears about this, and says ‘ it’s a shame, it’s awful, it’s ____ (fill in the blank). and it is. for me the worst was when my daughter finally told me it happened to her, 3 times, at 2 different universities. under grad and masters. it breaks my heart. i don’t know how she goes forward with life. she does. it’s caused issues. and then it tripped memories of my own. that i buried. this song…. wow! wow.

I’m 55 and been going a little over a year, usually only twice a week. Couldn’t climb a pole for 3 months then. I do some things well now, like a Helicopter and Gemini, other things like a Handspring…they’re taking longer. It’s gotten me in shape again…. And I’m getting there doing something I love. You will too! 🙂
