Thanks Empyrean, this is my second x-jointed pole and I had no problem with first so I know it’s the joint that is the problem. I haven’t been using it since it started twisting. My other pole is excellent.
-
My pole pieces have been rotating around my x-joints too. I viewed pennygirl’s video (http://ver3.studioveena.com/lessons/view/4653" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and I had been tightening my joints as much as possible, but when I took down the pole it turned out that the nubs that are supposed to lock the joints into the poles, have become flattened into the joints. I attached a photo of the flat nubs.
I have emailed XPole US about this, and I hope they are as helpful as they were with some of you other posters; over the last few months their customer service has been questionable over email (no responses) and telephone (attitude).

I also recommend looking up videos of rope mallakhamb (using rope instead of wooden pole). Similar to aerial silks. Impressive!

I think you can use iTunes to convert songs to MP3 format (which can be used in Windows Movie Maker).
I don’t have iTunes on this computer so I’m doing this from memory (might not be 100% accurate), but –
In iTunes:
Choose "Edit" – then "Preferences" –
Under the "General" tab – select "Importing settings" or something related to importing – choose MP3 format –
Close the Preferences menuThen in your iTunes music library, right-click on your song, and the pop-up menu should include "Convert to MP3".
I hope that works.

Hannah’s doing an introductory workshop at Capital Missfits in late July. Not sure if she will teach more advanced lessons there, but you could probably find out from the studio:

Capital Missfits is a fitness studio in Kanata. They have offered pole lessons with Li from Ottawa Pole Fitness and with Hannah from Polevolution. Two different approaches to teaching:
Ottawa Pole Fitness teaches a choreographed routine.
Polevolution teaches moves/tricks and lets you put them together as you like.I personally prefer trick-based teaching but everyone learns differently!

Anyone else from Ottawa? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif
I’m in Ottawa too. I first tried the pole 8 months ago with Capital Missfits. Recently did a few classes at Ottawa Pole Fitness (including two of Karol Helms’ workshops!) Mostly working from Jamilla’s Art of Pole series and Veena’s lessons.
You’ll find lots of great info on this site!

Thanks everyone for your input! I’ll be spending lots of time in the prep position (one foot on floor) and with my foam roller to work up to the Cupid.

Empyrean –
I start with the pole deep in my knee pit but it slips toward my calf. Should I grip harder to keep it behind the knee? Thanks! -
I second spinnyfox’s comments! Whether I am working out hard or just standing outside in hot weather, I tend to look all flushed like I’m dying. The pole just exemplifies that unfortunate tendency.

Hi Fox-c,
I found these other discussions helpful when I was picking out a new pole. They might answer your questions too!Re: brass or chrome/etc:

Hi again, someone just posted one on a nearby craigslist so I’m covered. Thanks anyway!
