Seeing as how I just started Ashtanga recently I can’t really say if it’s my favorite style but it has elements I enjoy. Flowing movement, syncing movement with breath. Time will tell. ☺

I just started an ashtanga yoga practice this year. It’s been a long time since I’ve done yoga for long sessions or on a regular basis so I have started slow and am building up one pose at a time. I figure it will take 6 months before I have the full primary series under my belt.
I am currently doing 5 sun salutation A’s, 3-5 sun salutation B’s, and the standing sequence. More or less depending on how I feel that day. I am loving it so far. My biggest problem in the past with having a home practice was not knowing what poses to do, how long to hold them, etc. I love ashtanga because it’s all laid out. I don’t have to think about what to do next.

I have some video of poling in a dress that I don’t think I ever posted. I’ll try to find and post. ☺

I’m so glad you’re starting to get somewhere. Let us know how it goes when you get back at it in a couple days. ☺

I don’t know if this is an option for you but sometimes when I get stuck in a rut I just need a song change. This happened to me last month, I was trying to put together something for my level 1 students and it just wasn’t working for me. I spent weeks trying to make it work and I just couldn’t come up with anything i liked and it was just really stressful. I changed the song and completed 2/3 of it in 30 minutes!

I’m sorry this has happened to you. I’ve ordered from them in the past (not recently) and not had any trouble. I hope you can at least manage to get your money back.

If you come onto the pole with something versatile like a Gemini hook you could go anywhere; pull upright, gem/scorpion switches, shooting star, superman…endless options really.

Keep recording and watching yourself! As painful as it may feel sometimes, it will get better and you’ll really notice a difference when you look back on those first videos later on. 😊

It is unfortunately just the way it is greyeyes. You just learn to ignore that sort of thing. Keep in mind that although it does happen (I saw the same comment, gross dude) it is by far the minority of people that will go out of their way to say something like that. ☺

  • It is possible although i certainly can’t do it! I have seen Blondbird do it, but she is a beast. Pretty sure she has magical pole powers. Lol.

  • I also use true and cup interchangeably. I’ve heard people call it Chinese grip too, because it’s very common in Chinese pole. The grip that krazykitty described above i would call a split grip, just a regular old split grip.

I’m pretty sure that most moves, if not all, done with twisted can be done with other grips. I believe cup grip is your most likely option. I think it is harder but it can be done!

Yep I don’t fit into a lot of my old tops. Had to replace a lot of clothing over the 5+ years that I’ve poled. It is going to change your shape in many ways. Enjoy the experience! 💝

Forgive me if I’m repeating an earlier suggestion, I didn’t read the entire thread. You could try dancing in shoes, they add weight to your feet making everything (especially straight leg work) much harder!
