Don’t forget your dance transitions like pirouettes, half spins, slides, and floorwork. There is so much you can work on. No need to be bored.
That spin you’re describing I believe is the front hook. It is in my level 2 program, not level 1. It is not easy to do forward facing spins, they require a lot of strength in your top hand, arm, and shoulder. Do you have Veena’s lessons?

Your body might be telling you to take a break. You said you were “all over it” yesterday. Relax and work on something else; floor work or stretching. I’ll bet it will come back tomorrow or next day. 🙂

Oh I have so many ideas… Shoulder dismount, Shouldermount flip (to sit on pole), Aysha. We’ll see what happens.

I don’t understand why everyone is always so concerned about x-poles cracking the ceilings…doesn’t anyone know how easy (and cheap) it is to putty over a freakin’ crack! Good luck getting your pole up soon.

@hooked pole memories are good too. Many of my male friends think pole is easy, especially when I was trying to learn the shouldermount. They could do that no problem, but try teaching them a simple pole sit and they leave crying… lol

@AerialGypsy There. Are. Pole. Dance. Memes?!?!?!?
Other than PDA’s pole comics…I had no idea. By the way, love the one you posted. I’m not so great at this one, and everytime I watch one of my videos I cringe at my feet.

That’s a really pretty spin. I’ve never seen it before. I think I’m going to have to go try that one right now.

It happens to the best of us at times. Don’t let it get you down and try not to feel frustrated. Go back to conditioning excersices for a week or two and try again. That usually works for me. 🙂

This is harder than it looks so dont worry if you cant get it right away. Rune is right, although there is some pull up it is less about pulling up and more about spinning momentum, timing and coordination. Post a vid of your attempts and we could advise you better.

I like to say if you can hold a pose long enough to get a picture of it that’s pretty good!

Dont forget that overuse and a lack of rest will put you back farther than not practicing at all. Poling everyday is not good for most people. Enjoy the holidays!

Are you sure it’s arm strength…both those moves are very much about core strength as well. 🙂 Maybe you’re just doing too much core.

I’m the same as Erin. If I’m learning a new trick or working on something that takes a lot of strength, I’ll only practice it every couple weeks at the most. I do a lot of “mental” practice in between though if that makes sense. Watching the video (if I recorded my attempts), visualization, and thinking about what I did right, what I did wrong, what I want to do differently next time. I gain strength faster and get the move more consistently that way rather than pushing my muscles to overdoing it.

I saw a great tutorial on youtube recently. I think it was Charlee Wagner. She breaks it down nicely and shows a nice way to spin into it from a basic plank.
