Try one of Veena’s 30 day programs. They will help give you ideas on how to organize your own workouts!

So I’ve been playing around with this and I came up with a few great ways to try this low if anyone is interested.

The candlestick/shoulderstand that MdawWat mentioned is a great way to practice coming up from a brass monkey into a sit but you don’t really get the feel of the move with so much of your bodyweight on the floor.
A head stand beside the pole can also get you there with less weight on the floor than a shoulderstand but still some support from top of the head and one hand.
I also tried the “spinning brass monkey” lesson from Cleo’s site which gets you into BM from a “downward dog” shape on the floor. Gives you the full move while still being able to reach the floor with your hands for an easy exit. ☺
The video linked earlier also shows from a layback, from genie (which is similar to the sit entry, you lower down into it) and from the “claw grip flip” which is a common back flip move but if you hook the inside leg at the top of the flip you end up in BM.
Thanks Veeners for the suggestions, tips and the video link. 💖😙

Good luck! I’m having an issue getting grip aids and I’m only in Ontario. Canada needs some good grip suppliers. Shipping is just too much $$ (or takes too long) in your case. Come on Canada, let’s get grippy!!!

It’s really hard to say as each instructor or studio has a different idea of what is basic or advanced and different rates of advancement. If you are starting lessons with a new teacher you should ask for an assessment and let them tell you where you fit into their program.

Try going into a leg hang ie. Gemini after the chopper. Keeping one leg away from the pole will help control your speed. ☺

I’m not sure because I’ve never done it, but I think it’s a great idea. I would start by making a video of some of your dancing, and sending some emails to some local bands. If you get any interest, you can send them your video, like an audition. I would also go to as many shows as you can to ty to meet people in the biz and try to sell yourself as a performer. ☺

You’ve only had two classes, give yourself time. I couldn’t hold myself off the ground for about a month. It takes time to get comfortable moving around the pole. Timing, flow and momentum are not as easy as they look and just because they don’t require physical strength doesn’t mean they don’t take practice either. I don’t teach a back hook that early so don’t take it too hard if you find it difficult. You will get it just don’t give up. ☺

Shoulder mounts and Superman were some of the most advanced tricks lol.
