A typical class is about 90 min.  but I know that is unreasonable for most people to do on a daily basis.  Some days, all I do is 3 slow sun salutations, it takes less than 10 minutes!  If I have more time (or more often than not once I get started I just want to keep going) I will do a couple standing asanas;  maybe a sequence of warriors 1,2,3, or high lunges, or triangle.  After that is just depends how I feel, or what I want to work on.  Maybe I'll work on inversions, or arm balances.  When I'm ready to cool down I move to some seated poses and twists.  Don't forget Savasana when you're done.

As far as how long to hold the poses, every style of yoga is different.  Some styles you can hold a pose for 5 minutes!  It's not really my thing though, I prefer Vinyasa yoga which means that you flow from one pose to another in sequence.  The most I usually hold a pose for is 5-8 breaths, and usually only 1-3.

I found http://www.yogajournal.com very helpful in planning out sequences of asanas becuase you can search poses by category, or even by what it helps with (ie. sciatica) so if something specific is sore or hurting you can build a sequence around it.

Start small, 10-15 min a day and see how it goes.  Good luck 🙂

I can't pole the day after I shave my thighs…too sensitive…ouchie, ouchie, ouchie.  Don't notice any difference in grip though.  🙂  Actually, my legs look funny today because I shaved from the knee down and the lady bit area, but not the thighs in between, lol.  Why??? Because I plan on poling tomorrow.  🙂

  • It's totally normal for the top of your foot to bruise when learning to climb and hold your self on the pole.  As you get better at it, you will use your calves, knees, and thighs more and your foot will take less of your weight.  Also the top of your foot, like other parts of your body, will get used to the pressure and will bruise less after practice.  If I'm doing a lot of climbing at once it still sometimes hurts to wear shoes the next few days though, lol.

I do not as of yet have any proper pole shorts…I either wear some workout shorts (which are a little longer in the leg than I would like, and makes some moves difficult) with undies, or I just strip down to the undies to start with. LOL

I really need to get me some of veena's 180 wear, some pink pole bottoms, and some pole skivvies they all look great!

I don't know where you are located, but around here (Canada) we have an organization called BBB (better business bureau).  They help out businesses and consumers by attempting to solve problems and "rating" businesses.  For example, you can check out a business to see if they are trustworthy before you send them money for a product/service or even before you decide if you want to work for someone.

I'm not generally a big fan of being a "tattle-tale" but an organization like that may have some insight or ideas for you.

What he is doing is harrasment/defamation/libel/slander, and is illegal.  Def get your lawyer to send him a letter.  AND GET BIG SPEAKERS, LOL!!! 🙂

Maybe I'm old school…I just turn on the radio to Q107 (Toronto's Classic Rock Station) and rock out.  🙂

I personally upload most of my vids to both facebook and youtube.  I haven't had any problems, I get comments from other polers, and sometimes non-pole friends too.  I have never had anybody say anything mean or nasty yet, but I expect to at some point.  As far as the creepy guys who are just out to oogle, I don't post anything even remotely sexy.  For example, I posted a booty bouncing video here on Veena a couple weeks ago, that one will not be going public!  LOL  Other than that, I don't worry about what anyone else thinks.  I mean, some guys think that little girls doing gymnastics are hot, so there opinion really doesn't mean anything to me.  If they think I'm hot I really don't care.  I just make sure there is no way for anyone to find me.  I have no contact info on either site, not even email.  🙂  Ultimately you have to stick with what makes you comfortable.

Congratz, that sounds awesome!  I remember the first time I climbed to the top of the poles at the studio too, it totally feels great.  I still can't picture this pose though… picture anyone?

They are using your performance to advertise that's for sure.  If they want you to teach at the studio it could be a great opportunity for you to hone your skills and do something you enjoy.  But if she just wants you to teach her so she can go to her studio the next day and reteach it to others, that's definitely not cool.  Not safe for her students, and not fair to you.

I was sooooooooo weak when I first started poling.  I couldn't even lift my feet off the ground!  That is totally normal.  You will get strong quick, even if your only on it for an hour or two a week.  I have learned to do so many things that used to seem impossible; shouldermount, flag, and aysha being a couple of the more recent ones.  🙂
