CapFeb- they may have had different diameters in the past? ..i've only been going since july of this yr and they've been around for 6yrs, so who knows what kind of set up they've had in the past? if the classes are on the empty side, i often travel from pole to pole to find one that has just the right stick to it, lol, and they all feel exactly the same as far as width goes.

Yes! I can attest to the fact that Poletential ROCKS. The poles are 20ft and there are 10 I think? Two of them have spinning capabilities. I've been going there since July and LOVE IT!! The instrctors are great and they offer a wide range of classes from beginners to advanced, some that focus on just pole technique and others that incorporate dance. They are all 50mm however, no variety in the diameter. They also have events and workshops throughout the year, always LOTS going on. I have a friend with some valuable pole connections in Maui so if you're going there, let me know and I will send her contact info your way. : ) Best of luck in all your travels, sounds adventurous and fun! : )

i think i would be too much of a newbie for you to pole with, lol. its only been 5 months that i've been going to poletential. i've mastered the basic invert and crucifix and can do a scorpio and gemini with spotting. i can do a reverse grip spin.. and a variety of other basic spins/twirls but thats the extent of my current abilities.. though i'm confident that having a pole at home will help em to progress much faster!

Thanks everyone, didnt realize this was such a common issue. LOVE that there's such a big supportive pole community to turn to! I'm stoked to get started at home! I notice a lot of you mention you take the pole down every few months.. is this just due to people coming over that you don't want to see the pole, or becasue its recommended for the pole? My instructor at the studio I pole at mentioned something about oiling the pole every 6 mo or so. Is that what people do?
