Do you use the spray or the paste? I just noticed that both are on Amazon.

Holding any sort of handspring for a meaningful amount of time. My problem with all grips/body positions right now is that my top shoulder isn't quite strong enough to square off for more than a split second, making so that I can't quite align and end up slowly twisting out. Any strengthening exercise tips for this are welcome.

For anyone who said the Marrion Amber, and referenced getting their butt up/alignment right, Aerial Amy has an awesome tutorial/video for this on her blog. She goes through her process of learning/figuring out the move, and her tips made it work for me. She recomends squeezing your thighs really tight to get the butt in the air. From there it is learning how low your arm needs to go. I struggled with that move for months; after watching her video though, I got it on the first couple tries. Good luck!

Or if you've had countless dreams where either gavity disappeared or you're suddenly strong enough to do all sorts of crazy strength moves.

I've been planning my career change for a while now, and this all these posts resonate. It sounds like the key is having some income plan in mind while you figure out the longer term picture. I had a boss who resigned to start her own business. She talked to the company and they worked out a deal with her so that she would work part time for 6 months to ease the transition for both the company and herself. The reduced hours gave her time to boost her clientel without working herself to death and the company appriciated having time to find and train a suitable replacement.

Having a 9-5 like Amy did, going part time, or free lancing are all really good ideas. I also agree with jivete, that having a creative outlet outside work is really important and might make all the difference. I was originally planning to leave my company a lot sooner, but while I figured out what I wanted to do instead, I made changes that gave me more time for my own interests. I'm not miserable anymore, and can say I'm comfortable in my current position for another 18 months. Having an outlet made work a lot more bearable and lowered my stress enough to let me think clearly about the next step. Before making my current life changes, I was ready to jump from one crappy position to another. Now I know more what I'm looking for and have the time to find it.

When you torque your wrist is your chest rotating? If you notice you are no longer squarely facing the pole the issue is in your shoulders. Pull them down and back to keep from twisting and to stablize. By holding some of the weight with your shoulders you’ll also take some of it off the wrist. I would also suggest playing with hand placement. You might feel more secure with the arms further apart or closer together. Play with the amount of bend in the bottom arm too. If you lock your bottom elbow it puts a lot of pressure in the bottom wrist, but too much bend is hard to hold and not as pretty.

Yeah, I never used the hand either… No hand is much more slippy. Good tip!

I don’t know if anyone said this yet but adding a splash of 100% cranberry juice to your water flavors it really well and you get extra health benefits from the cranberry. I hate drinking plain water too, but I’ll drink tons of this.

I get the capezio v front shorts from either discount dance or amazon. I prefer the cotton ones but the others work too.

If it still doesn’t work you can search for Amber Richards on Aerial Amy’s blog.

You have to define greatness. What makes the big name pole stars great is not just that they can trick/bend/dance ect. it is that they bring their own unique tallents to the table. Amber Richards talks about this in her interview with Aerial Amy.

Like ChemGoddess1 said, we might be able to give you advice if you specify what you define as greatness.

I agree with Kasanya about the stretching. Stretch as often as you like, but target different muscles different days, especially if you plan to do deep stretching. If you only do light to moderate streches you can strech more frequently. Just listen to your body; it will usually tell you when it's had enough 🙂

I don't think the two weeks off will leave you noticably weaker, but for me I go stir crazy if I don't exercise at least a little every week. BodyRock.Tv has been my answer for this. 12 min you can do in your house with little to no equipment.

You may be a pole addict if you are thinking of a career change but only apply to jobs if there is a pole studio in that city.

I hate people who intentionally create drama. I've been outed a couple times. I bookmarked the Natasha Wang On the View performance from YouTube on my phone so that I can show anyone who doesn't get pole, then I explain that before pole was in strip clubs it was a circus sport in China and India. Then I explain that some women like the sensual dancing; others use pole as a vertical extention for ballet. In otherwords, I do everything in my power to get them to realize pole is a tool for any type of dance/gymnastics/aerial expression. Usually it works, but sometimes people are just stupid and too dense to get it.
