He sounds like a tool.
One possibility that crosses my mind is that he is attracted to you and enjoys teasing you like a 12-year-old pulling your pigtails. The other thought is that he is a disrespectful ass.
I hope you don’t spend much time around him. I have a friend’s husband who is a little like that–makes me very uncomfortable because I feel like he’s always waiting for me to say something stupid so he can make fun of me. It’s unpleasant. I don’t get it because my friend is lovely but he’s just not my cup of tea.

Allyson, he sounds like a perfect ass. I’m sure you are correct that he doesn’t give a rat’s ass how the poles are cleaned and was making some kind of rude comment. I have lots of ideas about perfectly unacceptable things to do or say to this imbecile but since it’s your friend’s husband, I’ll suggest this tidbit from the Miss Manners column in the newspaper. She says whenever someone asks an inappropriate question or simply one you don’t want to answer, a great response is, “why do you want to know?” Or “why do you ask?” Love this response as it buys you time if they genuinely have a reasonable question and if they’re just being nosy or an ass it forces them to explain themselves.
As always, people’s responses to pole, particularly their uncomfortable responses or sleazy responses, reveal far more about them than they do about us.

That just makes me smile.
It’s fascinating to me–such a completely different dynamic–so much about strength and momentum. I don’t think whether or not he “sticks” to the pole is a consideration for him.
I have to pole nearly naked to be able to stick and this freak is poling in a hoodie and long pants. WTF? 🙂
Thanks for sharing.

I’ve done a little bit of silks, mostly at home on my own, which is probably why I learn the hard way. This is probably obvious to everyone but me but it seemed to take me a while to get it through my head and I have the scars to prove it.
Pole = less clothes.
Silks = More clothes.
I have had a number of nasty silk burns from drops and one of them is a pretty big permanent scar, albeit not terribly dark but it’s kind of on my hip bone and looks like a shadow so it looks like a fat roll, which I could do without. 🙂
Learning in a studio with an instructor should preclude these sorts of errors.
Enjoy!

I did pretty much the same thing thinking the stainless couldn’t possibly be that much more slippery and it would only make me stronger. I do have the 45 mm but that stainless is SOOO slippery, especially in the winter when the humidity is low regardless of me running a humidifier nonstop. I have had my eyes open for a used powder coated Lil Mynx that I could use with the same mount I have but haven’t found any close to me.

I bought a pair of Pleasers with rhinestones on the heels that had reportedly only been worn once to walk around the house and I’ve worn them once and three rhinestones are already missing, only one of which I found. That’s my only experience with these types of shoes but I now consider them very fragile.

Veena, thanks for that video. That just made me feel so much better about myself. Pretty much my entire pole practices look like that!

I’m going to try to join the January challenge. I have not used Instagram (or any social media) so I kept my account private because I’m paranoid and don’t have any idea what I’m doing. I’ll, of course, accept any Veeners who want to follow me at GrayEyesPoles. I started following a few of you a few days ago but haven’t had time to follow everyone yet.
I’m weirded out by the fact that if it’s public anyone can watch and comment–particularly after I saw the creepy comment someone left on one of Veena’s vids from a day ago. Am I missing something or is that just the way it is?
Sorry to be such a social media virgin.

If it was a 9-10 foot pole I would be all over that! I’ve been wanting to get a powder coated pole to switch out with my SS because it is so slippery in the winter, but mine is 10 feet. I’ve tried to think of a place to put a 9 foot pole, but I don’t think my husband is gonna go for two poles…yet.

I bought mine brand new and I would agree that it “clangs” when a lateral force is applied to it. I do believe that’s normal for a Lil Mynx.

I have not had anything similar happen to me, but Google coccydynia and see if that has any info for you. I do a little medical transcription for a spine surgeon and he did an injection of some sort for a patient with this diagnosis.

MemberDecember 7, 2014 at 10:11 pm in reply to: Lil Mynx Vaulted Ceiling Pole InstallationYep, mine’s on a vaulted ceiling. No issues whatsoever. The other day, for no good reason, I jumped on it like a psycho monkey swinging as hard and high as I could just to see how much force I could put on it and see if it would budge–it did not. I should have taken a video. I’ll try to do that if I get a chance–it would show you how stable it is.

Thanks for the reminder. It’s hard to remember we’re not invincible…well not so hard for me now that I’m older but I definitely thought I was invincible when I was younger. I hope you heal up quickly.

I’ve used my dogs beds. One of them is an “orthopedic” bed that’s a decent thickness of foam and I think it’s a pretty decent alternative. I generally don’t use any mats, but I once considered buying a memory foam topper off of Overstock.com. Looking very briefly you can get a 4-inch twin foam topper for $44. Of course you would need to cut it in some way to either fit around the pole or be two separate pieces or something. Just a thought–maybe it will spark a better idea.
