Not a lot. I know that sounds disgusting but when I clean it, it becomes greased lightning again so grimy works better for me on my slippery stainless steel.

Very interesting information. I just got back from my first visit to NOLA a few weeks ago and I have to say I would like to return–might as well return for PoleCon. I’m going to put some serious thought into that. Thanks for passing it on!

I have a Lil Mynx 45-mm stainless 10-foot pole. It is one piece. It is super easy to put up and take down (literally seconds) and is very secure.
Like you I read that Stainless can be slippery but I thought, “how much more slippery can it be?” That was probably a mistake. Like you, I figured it would just be a little bit more slippery than what I was used to (brass) and that I would just ultimately end up stronger. That’s not quite the case at least for me. I had never used any grip aids on brass but I have a drawer full of stuff now. I really can’t do any thigh or knee holds without some sort of grip aid. I also find that I need some humidity to be able to stick to the point that I’m considering a whole house humidifier since using a small room humidifier doesn’t really help. In the winter when the heat is on and the humidity in the house is low I would describe my pole as EXTREMELY slippery.
I do love my pole. I think it’s beautiful. I love how easily it goes from spin to static. However, if I was doing it over I might get powder coated, although I’ve never used one of those either.

I finished tonight! Yippee!
Tropical, I didn’t take before/after photos or I would post them too. You look great!

I only have two days left, and I do believe my belly is flatter.
I wouldn’t mind another 30-day challenge of some sort. Has Veena got another one up her sleeve?

I’m certainly not a physical therapist so take this with a grain of salt. I do a stretch on the pole that I think helps and I’m going to try to post a picture from my phone. It looks ridiculously simple but it feels surprisingly good. I basically stand facing the pole and grip it with both hands about half way between shoulder and waist high and lean my butt back to put my body weight into it.
The other thing I try to do and this is tougher because it requires something to rest on that’s narrow enough to hang your arms down. I can kind of do this on a railing in my house but I put my chest down on the railing/narrow counter top, whatever you can find and hang both arms off the sides while holding dumbbells–this lets the dumbbells do the stretching.

Oh stargazer, bummer. I totally understand–that sort of thing happens between my husband and I as well. I just want to scream, “DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW HARD THIS IS FOR ME TO DO THIS?!” but somehow that kind of takes the sexy right out of it and makes me feel kind of pitiful…so I just get mad and hurt instead. It turns out we are usually miscommunicating, but it doesn’t make it suck any less when it happens.
Give it a go another time.
And to StipXpertise–daaanngg. I’m going to use your excellent suggestions some day! Thanks for sharing.

@AllysonKendal I think we might be on the same diet…cookies, pizza…
I often wonder what I might look like if I didn’t eat like a 5-year-old with a credit card.
I don’t wonder enough to change my diet, but I do wonder.

Just a Paypal comment: Obviously I don’t know what problems other people have had with Paypal but I believe I have had my account for well over a decade and I’ve never had any problem with it. I also only have it linked to a credit card. They ask me to link a bank account to it but I never have and it works just fine with only my credit card info given to them. I use it pretty frequently and even used it at Home Depot once.

MemberAugust 13, 2014 at 6:37 pm in reply to: What other workouts do you do besides pole? Just curious..I used to feel like I needed to be very regimented with my workouts as in doing a certain thing for a certain length of time each day of the week. Obviously this works well for many people but for me it was too regimented and made me feel like a failure if I didn’t complete everything. Now I’m totally a go with the flow exerciser. I only pole about once a week and I try to lift weights at least once a week. Off and on I walk on the treadmill or run a bit outside but very little running. Very occasionally I do a little yoga or rock climbing or silks. I took a kayaking class a while ago and today I’m on vacation so swimming quite a bit while snorkeling. I try to do what sounds fun to me and I consider any physical activity to be doing something and therefore good enough for today.
Most interestingly, I took a trapeze class last week, which was quite fun. It seemed like a cross between silks and pole but more similar to silks. I bought a pack of classes so I’ll go back. I really like to do different things as often as possible to keep my body guessing and have fun.

I think I’m around day 9 or something and I’m also on vacation and have been astounded to discover how difficult it has been to find a stinkin’ pole of some sort for my knee tucks. The dang street signs are either too large of a diameter or those awful U-shaped things that turned out to be too painful to hold onto. I used the bars of a shopping cart corral at Lowe’s a few days ago. Naturally, the only one that would work had a car parked next to it with someone sitting in the car. I’m sure they thought I was nuts. My husband thinks I’m nuts too as I head out from each hotel trying to find a pole. Carry on, ladies…and gentlemen, if any of the fellas have joined us.
