I prefer iTac Level 3 for my hands and vinegar for the pole.

I haven't taken my pole down since I put it up. *bad example* This year I started cleaning it with vinegar. Before that, it was always isopropyl alcohol.

Fell again from a cartwheel mount. Did a full rotation and BAM. Hit my head and bicep hard. 3 weeks later, I couldn’t lift my arm past my waist. Painful.
I know I fell another time but forgot what it was from. Suffice to say, I have a real hard time trusting spotters now.

Yayyyy! Glad its working out for you ladies! My friend googled and saw this thread pop up. She tried vinegar alone and was like, “Now what am I going to do with the other products? Throw them out?” lol!
@nymphdancer – It should work with a Lil Mynx and super dry hands. My partner at Crunch had super dry hands and she loved her stronger grip!
@aerialmck – Would love to hear a response about powder coated from one of the chemists. I haven’t had a chance to see or test that one. You could try and let us know! 😉

Hmmmm It might be bc your pole is brand new and still needs to be broken in. It’s working for others bc our poles are not as new. Try rubbing it HARD for 3-5 minutes with the vinegared towel to warm it up longer and break it in more.
What type of vinegar did you use? White distilled vinegar? Cider vinegar? Balsamic? Cane? Did you 50/50 mix?

Stretchmarks are hereditary. Whether you get them from weight gain, pregnancy, or poling, the only way to avoid further stretch marks is to avoid whatever caused it all together. Or find a stretch mark cream or oil that actually works.

@Develange – Glad it worked so well for you! I think that's the same concept. The vinegar dissolving the oil and grime. Ouch to thigh chafing! Maybe less sliding down while inverted? lol! Or dilute it more? What type of vinegar did you use?
@Tine007 – Thanks for your professional input! I wish I knew about avoiding the X-Pole joints when I was using alcohol all these years. The joints were fine, but the parts near the holes look like the chrome layer corroded off (this happened about 1-2 years after I got the pole). This was with alcohol though. I'll also avoid that part with vinegar, just in case.
@Jenn – Pure brass is fine. Flirty Girl Fitness uses solid brass poles and vinegar 50/50, no break down from what I saw.
@chemgoddess1 – ROTFLMAO! So does this mean I can drink AND pole at the same time? Sweet! Imagine me bringing in a bottle of vodka to an NYC pole studio? HAHAHAHA!!!! But back to the titanium thing, titanium gold IS resistant to vinegar's acid base? Meaning it's safe. And you're saying, titanium gold's COLOR will wear off faster with vinegar but will wear off regardless b/c of our hands? It won't corrode.

MemberFebruary 24, 2011 at 12:13 am in reply to: how do I make a start on learning the splitsTried a lot of techniques but the combination that helped me the most was the quad stretch from Dara Torres Resistance Stretching youtube vid and hot yoga 3 times per week. My body opened up so much more and is a lot more flexible on the pole. Closer to splits but not fully there yet.
otter recommended getting the Resistance Stretching DVD. I've been meaning to get it.

Yay!!! Can't wait to hear updates!!!

Yay ladies! You’re welcome and yay tiggertail for more grip!
@Robyn – Actually its safe to use vinegar on chrome. There’s 190,000 results on google suggesting it. Lol! http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&biw=981&bih=632&q=clean+chrome+vinegar&aq=0v&aqi=g-v1&aql=&oq=clean+chrome+vinegar
I’ve been using it on my chrome x-pole with no problem and used it on brass, stainless steel, and chrome in studios. Though your right its probably best NOT to use it on titanium gold bc there’s no saying long term results.@Veena – We’re cleaning our poles with vinegar like you do your floors! Hehehehe. My partner last night had dry hands like you. My polar opposite. She brought alcohol, but preferred using my vinegar instead. She LOVED the grip so much more, that she’s buying both vinegar AND iTac. Lol! Guess it works both ways.
-
@Celeda – Glad it worked well for you! Good luck in your search for the already diluted version.
@Veena – hahahah I can relate, being in the healthcare field.
@Ollie – OH NOOOO! Lol no splashing. It’s meant for wiping the pole, even though some vinegar on the towel gets on your hands. I don’t literally wipe my hands with the vinegared towel until after an hour or 2 of poling.
@Gingercake – Get the normal white standard vinegar, if you can find white distilled vinegar, that’s better. I was going to use cider vinegar since that’s what we have but after researching, best to use standard white and mix yourself or white diluted vinegar.

Girls are always like, omg teach me! And guys are always joking about saying show me! Whenever someone comes over, they always take a spin or 2. Its becoming more acceptable and it’s a respectable hard sport to do. Then depending on who it is, espec at work places, I would sometimes say “exercise class.” Use your discretion.

I’m with the other ladies. Vinegar may smell for a bit but it is soooooo worth the stronger grip! Anything for no more sweaty hands. Lol!
It did drive me crazy when I had the smelly towel linger in my bag, whilst shopping around Soho afterwards. So I sealed it in a bag and smell went away. But during practice, I get used to it after a few minutes.
BTW at Flirty Girl, the 50/50 mix did leave a residue which I had to wipe off more, but the white distilled vinegar didn’t at all.
