There’s actually a big section of white distilled vinegar at the supermarket. It’ll be easy. Keep me posted. Guaranteed you’ll be happy!

Also to clarify, I didn’t wipe my hands with a vinegered towel till about an hour of poling. Just wiped down the pole the whole time.

Hhahahahaha sorry BOY! I have a habit of saying girl. Lol!

@Celeda – I truly feel you girl. Have the core and strength but slipping seemed to stop me most of the time. Now, my prayers are finally answered. Lol! I’m sticking to white distilled vinegar since it cleans the pole more and the vinegar is already diluted in water. Mixing requires too much thinking and testing for me but you can try both! Haha!

@Veena – Lol! I read people usually clean floors and pots/pans with vinegar. I didn’t click till this year that we can use it on POLES too! Nice Canadian trick. Hehe

I tried 2, 3, and 4. IMO 4 is too strong and sticks too much, ESP if you put it on your body. 3 seems perfect for me, even though I mostly use 2. I would say 3 for hands and 2 for body. You need some natural grip and freedom too.

Cool, thanks! Will check out Marlo or Kyra. I def want someone that would push my edge and kick my butt, a la Seraphine/Barbara. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_shaking2.gif And I’m sad now. Don’t you miss the choosing and dancing? Or do you get your improv time since you’re a teacher?

Thanks for the heads up, re: anti-gravity. I’m ALWAYS late for yoga…. always. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif By any chance, do you know which of Crunch’s classes are most similar to core flow?

i go back to sfactor for flight night/pure dance with my S friends about once every month or two, that’s all that i find i need. if you’ve never been, it’s a 1.5 hr class with a 30 min warmup and then just dancing for the last hour. you bring in a song.

by core flow, i’m assuming you mean vinyasa flow? if so then check out any of Crunch’s flow or vinyasa classes- i’m sure you’ll be able to tell by the description on the schedule.

Awe thats nice you still see your Saturday friends. I never tried flight night, even durin my hiatuses, but I may start up. Sounds fulfilling. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Core flow and vinyasa flow are similar but different. Core flow is more advanced with poses and requires a lot of core/upper body strength and flexibility. I do a mix of vinyasa and bikram in my hot yoga class. It might be Crunch’s flow class. Will ask around before going soon.

A guy I work with has been doing Bikram yoga for about a month now but already the results are incredible. He seems so trim already. I’m deffo interested in giving it a go, however, I only tried yoga for a couple of weeks a few years ago so basically have no experience even with non-heated yoga. Is bikram only for seasoned yoga go-ers?

Go for it! I’ve been to 4 studios and they’ve all been so welcoming to beginners. They really talk you through it and help you in the proper pose. With bikram, there’s different variations to each pose so you can take it lightly or very hard. They even encourage you to sit out a pose if you’re not feeling up for it.

Def give it a go. A lot of studios offer intros like unlimited 2-4 weeks for $25-100 or a couple free classes with your first purchase. 2 yoga studios near me are offering 10 classes for $100 so I’m taking advantage.

Also forgot to mention, it gets rid of the soreness after extensive poling. For a month, i did 4 hours in pole class on thursday, and could NOT wait to get to hot yoga the next morning. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif i was so sore and it goes away like magic.

Yogi here. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I absolutely love hot yoga and am exploring all types. Bikram/hot26, hot yoga, and hot core flow. Now i am addicted! It increased my flexibility and endurance on the pole. I could hold pole moves longer and have a better control of transitioning from one pole move to the next. I don’t know if it’s from the peace of mind or the physical aspect… But it works!

I started with bikram yoga in NYC. It’s a set of 26 poses, all in a 95-105 degree room. I like it for starting out bc it’d like an introductory to a whole new world. Just that you can only further yourself so much. I.e. Yoga toe stand with no hands, complex lotus, and standing bow pulling into a standing split are your challenges.

Hot yoga has pretty much the same sequence but adds on their own style and focuses more on increased flexibility. Added poses like pigeon, lunges, standing splits, straddles, bridge/wheel, etc. I like it better because it offers more variety.

When you get advanced, go for hot core flow or hot core flow fusion. This is killer for even prof dancers. You do crazy stuff like lifted tolasana, three legged dogs, side plank, bird of paradise, one legged wheel, flow king pigeon, twisted lotus, etc. It varies every week, hence why i love it. Pushes your edge.

They say it’s best to go 3 times per week for the full effect. 4-5 times is a little too much, but if you can do it, go for it. 1-2 times is too little and you’ll feel the soreness, not receiving much benefits.

The funny thing is I’m probably older than most here and my son is 25! He has lived away from home for seven years now. My husband encouraged me to tell him what my "new workout" is. When I did he responded,"Mom I will never be able to look at you the same!" When he has visited I’ve asked him if he would like to see anything I do, which quick response was NO! haha I showed him a basic spin or two, but that’s as far as he’ll see his mom do. He knows I do it for fitness, however, he IS 25. The clincher is for Christmas this past December, he gave me an Intermediate Pole DVD which was a perfect gift!!! It was so funny. We have a good laugh about it.

That is hilarious! My little brother is around the same age and is disgusted whenever he sees pics in facebook. He didn’t even want to look at my recent non-pole related photoshoot! Lol

Back to OP, my 7 (soon to be 8 ) year old daughter knows and encourages it. She’s been doing spins and climbing on my pole since she was 4. I never dance in front of her, but she does see me do a trick or 2. She likes looking at vids and pics with me.. Mine and others. My favorite is, "Ooh! Can you do that mommy?" She also knows not to talk about it in school.

i know the drama queen as the sad girl- when it’s a drop from a sit, it’s a sad girl drop, and when it’s inverted it’s a bomb https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

*breathes it all in* lol! Lots of things to think about! I bought a month groupon membership to Crunch so I’ll try Monday or wednes. It’s sounding less and less hot there, the more i hear. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif Esp the gym like setting where there are gawkers. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif Will do pole, anti-gravity, vinyasa heat, and flow yoga. I do all except anti-gravity so that’ll be an experience. Actually I’m more interested in their yoga than pole at this point. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif

For b&p, sounds better! I’ll probably try the $20. I know what you mean by "advanced S". https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif Our 4pm has been very far off the curriculum for a while now and my teachers consider me and a few others uber advanced. I can do all except aerial SM bc I fell once in L4 and refuse to go back into it. Hmmmm I can do suicide switches (Gemini/hip hold/Scorpio) and my latest combo is the aysha > straight edge > open brass monkey > flag down and catch into CAR > bridge. I’m looking to broaden my combos and learn new stuff like TG and rubber aysha. Who would you recommend? Or which class?

And boooooo!!! No more choosing songs? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif

Yup. If you paused before going into your decending angel you’d be in a flatline scorpio. After that you could let yourself down to decending angel or whatever you want.

YES! Thanks! Will take that longer pause into consideration next time. You’ve just made my fave combo more interesting!
