Hi Rautenbach, your profile pic looks great! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif super well done!
Personally, I tend to go down to handstand once I’m tired, or there’s too much blood rushing through the head. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif
Once you’re comfortable with the handstand and feel like your orientation is right, then perhaps try the pole cat/climb or perhaps the Aysha – which I personally find OK because my main strenght is in my arms. -
Welcome Oluha https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
This is a great site and I’m sure you’ll enoy the forum, video etc. As for becoming an instructor, not the best person to help, but here in the UK they recommend getting an Exercise To Music certificate first of all.

Window cleaner, has worked well so far

Great responses! I pole because it’s so addictive, heard someone liken it to skateboarding. You learn one trick – great! – and then try to do next… and it’s so addictive because you just want to get that feeling of adrenaline and accomplishment again and again!
Also, I do it to work on ‘my guns’ https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I get stressed out quite easily and went through a really *really* nasty time a year or two ago. Have found that the only time when I’m truly relaxed and not anxious is when I pole.

Inspiring thread, I’m sure you’ll do well regardless!
(ps and a bit off topic I suppose, but am I the only one who’s only done fitness moves in front of bf? Never dared to do any ‘dances’ in front of him..)

Yeah too much poling can take its toll on the body I suppose https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif It’s just too much fun!

Hours a day! Wow ::)

Great amcut, what an interesting thread!
Came across a pole site last night that was just… bitchy. Said ‘pole should always be xy and z’ basically because that’s how that girl did it, quite dictatorial. Made me feel a bit frustrated https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif But then remembered that there are way better pole sites, such as SV https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif, where girls are tolerant and sweeties.
Personally I’m into the fitness and gymnastic side of pole, and think the best bit about pole is that it can be everything and anything you want it to be – whether you’re into tricks only or floorwork etc.

You guys gave the perfect advice, after inverting and moving one arm down, sliding around with ‘straight’ hips it worked https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Even with left arm down which is the weaker one for me. So happy right now. Finally after months of trying the caterpillar way! -

I invert standing on the right hand side of the pole, and when I’m in caterpillar I have my right hand down and left one up. So did a standard invert over the weekend, but found that it made most sense to (as I invert on the RHS) to move left arm down – but it’s my weak one so couldn’t do it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif Is it possible to invert on the right, and still move your right arm down to go into butterly?
Will try again tonight.. there *must* be a way to nail this

But still determined to one day get it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Tiny progress though, managed to (embarrassing) only twinkle my toes instead of letting go of foot / leg, so it’s going in snail pace…

Veena, I’m doing split grip butterfly with square hips… so in theory is *should* work. I’ll get the instructor to check that my leg’s in the right place .. will report in a few hours how it went! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif
