I also use a basic digital camera. It works for me since I only record practices at home and studios. I have also recorded with my Samsung Tablet, but someone has to record for me as it is not compatible with tripod. Others have replied to threads here with what they use, hopefully they will again.

PinkPony, I understand about the guidance on scholarships, extra curricular volunteer work, etc. I heard about these things in talking to other moms who had kids in the school system, then I would look it up and guide our son in that direction. Even though we put Daniel in traditional high school in his sophomore year, he did well. He graduated in the top 10 of his class and scored in the top 5% of the state testing. He got into UC Berkeley, however, didn’t finish for various reasons. It was difficult for me as a mom and it was his dream to go to Cal. But he had to make his own decision. He’s doing well working and living on his on in bay area.

Good luck veena. It worked for us, even though as I said, having an only child I had to be more creative. At home I was his play buddy 🙂

Well, we homeschooled our son, however, he is 29 yrs old now! We used a variety of curriculum based on which one was highly recommended for which subject AND based on his learning style. I don’t know what’s out there now. Our day was based on whatever was assigned for the day was completed. We didn’t do the “school room” deal. He was able to do his work wherever, however in the house. I have a picture of him sitting on pile of laundry with clothes draped over his head! Some homeschoolers I knew did the “if they went out and found bugs on the lawn that was Science”. I was a structured homeschooler with lesson plans, requirements, etc. However, we did do projects with household/food items, etc.
Oh, Bill Nye the Science guy, Reading Rainbow, etc were part of our home lol

We also schooled separate from the school system. We chose to be part of a private homeschool co-op. The family who formed the school filed the affidavit with the state and families were registered under that school. Different mom’s would teach a certain subject where kids met once a week. I taught Spanish at the jr high/high school age, Sewing for 9 yrs old/up, and conducted PE for soccer season. Not all subjects were taught in this setting. We also had once a month park days; also looked for various ways to socialize.

Some homeschoolers chose not to do anything outside of their home/church/homeschool. We did’t. we had our son play city soccer, T-ball, summer tennis at a club (he ended up playing varsity his sophore year in traditional high school), he participated in a children’s mexican folkorico dance group and whatever else I could find for him to try.

We homeschooled thru his freshman year. At that time, I felt I couldn’t take him any higher in education. He went to traditional high school in his sophomore year in Advanced Placement classes.

It was a little challenging for me as he was an only child. So I had to be creative. However, in the homeschool co-op he was exposed to all ages from babies to adults all the time.

Okay, I know I rambled and our homeschool experience is probably not helpful as it was MANY years ago and a lot has probably changed. Have you looked at/considered any specific curriculum?

I’ve been poling 8 yrs and am just starting more and more on spinny, but still very little (if that makes sense) I’ve taken a couple of lessons on spinny, then practice them at home VERY slowly. But not often as I should. At the studio I’m at now, I focus on spinny a little bit, but am venturing more with it. I have couple recent videos practicing spinny. The first time I tried it at home by myself, I scared the crap out of myself and decided”no way”. But I hadn’t had any classes on that mode yet. For me, I want to, but slowly she goes 🙂

So glad you posted this. I’ve been poling for few years and have struggled with poling at home. I can practice things to continue to get better and remember, but I hold off on new things or that I’m not confident with (but can do). But I get to the studio and can do it with more ease and confidence.

I struggle because of the lack of height at home in comparison to the studio. And even though I have decent pole space, I let the storage shelves, etc in the room distract me and I don’t feel I have enough space. I have to plan or time spins/tricks to end up on a certain side, etc.

I’m glad I have a pole at home and get good practices in, just wish I did more at home. As mentioned, sometimes it’s hard to get motivated at home because I want to be at the studio with my awesome instructor and gals in class! 🙂 Hang in there and get a comfortable location.

Awesome that you have veena’s lessons, they were a huge help to me when I didn’t have a studio to go to and learned A LOT from them. Maybe you can find someone to Skype with, a lot of veneers do that, OR better yet, come to chat here on Fridays and video pole! 🙂

I also had Lil Mynx 50mm for first pole, then got 50mm Xpole (45mm weren’t available yet) I ended up trying a 45mm at a studio and loved it. I have an Xpole xpert 45mm titanium gold and love it. At my studio there are only 2 45’s, if they are taken I can practice on a 50mm which is good. But I LOVE the 45mm.

FYI, I don’t pole in holes and very rarely “dance” but trying to more. I use the foot undeez for ease.

I had a guy where I work make me one that works great. He is a skilled carpenter, woodwork, etc. Here are some videos where I’ve used it https://www.studioveena.com/videos/view/529435d3-6840-4342-8683-05860a9aa0eb and https://www.studioveena.com/videos/view/52944fba-0d64-441c-ae6e-07a40a9aa0eb He just used a board 4×5 1/2 and put a sheet of laminate on top (he had the blue laminate left over from another project), then put that trim to cover up the rough edge of the board. I hot glued a piece of fabric on the bottom because it was rough and wanted to protect it from snagging the carpet. Because he had this material left over it took him about 15-20 minutes, he did it at work on his break lol. There isn’t a hole in the middle for the pole, I just centered it under the stud on ceiling and centered pole on it. I love it!!!

I’m just getting back to pole because of a horrible illness since before Christmas! Will see if I can get started on January 2014 Challenge as I have some things to work on. Getting late start for this challenge, but it’s a good one!

I forgot to add that the two studios where my heart is fit the description of great studios. One is close by and I go weekly, the other is a 2 hr drive one way and I went as often as I could, it was that worth it.
