So sorry to hear.  I will share "our" experience because everyone's is different.  Our pet poodle, Brandy, health began to fail at age 12.  She had difficulty breathing, couldn't take many steps without having to stop to breathe, we had to lift her up for about everything.  Her immune system began to break down and she broke out in horrible sores all over her precious body.

I took her to the vet when the sores broke out and he said he was surprised she was not in heart failure, as it was so weak.  He highly recommended putting her to sleep as she was suffering.  I was not prepared for that and told him "I'm not ready."  He said to take her home and bring her back when I'm ready.

I took her home and held her all day (wrapped up in a towel as her body was full of horrible sores).  After about three days realized it was time.  I sat on the couch with her all day and cried waiting for my husband to get home so we could take her to her vet, who cared for her since we got her at six wks old.  We had our son say good bye to her and took him to a friend's house.  Daniel and Brandy were about same age, as after six years of infertility we got Brandy, then two months later I was pregnant with our son, so they grew up together.

The vet asked us if we wanted to stay with her during the process which shocked me, but in my surprise said yes.  Husband and I are glad we did, even though that was the first we've heard of that.  We have comfort knowing that she didn't suffer in the process and that it was peaceful.   I agree with Autumn Sky about the peace of staying.  Yes we cried as we held her, but also tears of love.  Of course, everyone has to make their decision.

Sorry I rambled, just wanted to share that I know how difficult it is.  This was 16 yrs ago, as you can see, still a vivid, but loving memory of her life with us.  My thoughts are with you and your family.

Also would like to know the time, I'm PST.  Isn't there a fee or something for more than two people in Skype?

Welcome, this IS a great place.  I agree with Saphyre, veena's lessons are wonderful.  And they will start you off the right way with strength, conditioning and correct technique.  There is a lot of support and a lot of fun!

Also, as Saphrye said, go at pace that works for you and patience is important.  It's easy to want to nail "that move", but it will come and we will all happy dance with you when you do!

As sad as it is, I was finding it difficult to participate in chat as much as I used to.  Thank you for all you do and maintaining a fun and healthy community here.

BTW, @AerialGypsy, what is tiny chat??

I'm just hoping to get veena's lessons again soon.  Looks like some awesome new lessons.

Yup, age is not a factor.  I'm 57 and started at around 51 yrs old.  I'm having a blast and accomplished many things I didn't think I would.  Of course, many of them took years to develop strength, but accomplishments at any time are awesome.  You'll find who you can talk to about pole and who not to.  I've gotten better at determining that.  Just pole for you and have fun.  This is a GREAT place to be a part of, so WELCOME!

Welcome to sv and pole journey!  When I found pole few years ago I was very active with weights and power flex at a gym, but with pole I could not even do a simple climb or pole hold.  It's a totally different strength world 🙂  It takes time and good thing you are starting here with people who know correct technique, etc.  I was taught inverts incorrectly and had to start over when I found veena's lessons.  Her lessons are awesome, I've had the year subscription twice, it's great price.  In fact I need to get them again to work on more and her combo lessons.  Remember, take your time, listen to your body, everyone progresses differently so don't compare yourself, AND have funhttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I can so relate, I do the same thing.  I don't pole "dance" much, mostly pole for fitness, exercise, workouts.  I go to a studio where I end up attempting free dance or routine once in a while and UGH!.  I'll be posting a short vid of one at my class this past week for warm-up.  I wish I could improve this and maybe I would if I made more of an effort.

I hope you get some tips here that I can use 🙂

Yup, been there, done that…still there and do that 🙂  I struggle horribly with the 'dance" part of pole.  I'm just not good at it and am a stiff robot when I try.  I do have some vids of pole dance here, but MOST of them are of practices and accomplishments.  Then there are the videos where my poochy tummy is well, poochy!  I do like recording though, because I can see where I need to improve form/technique/pointed toes, etc.

So you are definitely not the only one.  Hang in there and enjoy your pole journey.  This is a great place for fun, support and encouragement.  WELCOME!

You are so describing me!!! I don't pole "dance", but when I do practice I look so miserable!!!  I love pole and do have fun, but I am so freakin' concentrating, trying not to fall on my butt or face, struggling with strength, etc.  So you are not the only one. 🙂

Also know how you feel.  I drive 2 hrs one way to a studio to take a class and pole with others @ pole jams, etc.  There are couple people closer to me but it's still difficult coordinating schedules and getting together.  The other day my husband kept me company as I practiced (he used to when I first started) and it made a difference to have fun.  I hope you can find someone in your area, in the meantime we veneers are here.  Have you been able to join chat on Fridays?
